Is it ok to have kids if they dont live there with you? What if you have sponsored one of those save the children kids? Does that mean you cant live there? Can you live there if you are a sperm of egg donor? And as for the pets issue, what if you had a pet but it died? I had a hamster when I was seven and the little thing went to hamster heaven. Does that mean I cant rent this trailer? And what about tropical fish? If I have tropical fish can I rent the trailer, and if not, what if I like fish sticks? What if I have a vhs copy of old yeller? What about a dvd of march of the penguins? And what if I have ringworm or a foot fungus? I mean scratching those irritations is a lot like petting a pet. And what about stuffed animals? Man, the standards for a clearfield trailer are tough.

I know someone who just moved out of this trailor. He told the land lord he could give him 300 then the other 100 in two days and that morning the land lord came by to pick up the money and gave him a note with two weeks to move out.

There's nothing farther from the truth than your reply. Have only had one renter since i bought it, and they just bought their own home, or it still wouldn't eb available. So you don't have any idea what you are talking about or the location of this trailer.

I understand why the owner doesn't want to rent to someone with children. Children are notorious for damaging things without really thinking about it. The owner doesn't want their walls marked up or anything else damaged. So don't be upset about it.

Wow! Sounds so inviting... I thought it was illegal to discriminate against children?

Can there be family cookouts you know with a family and kids? Can kids be a part time thing?

If someone goes by to look at it and he tells them that they can take him to court for it. it being children I do think that they would win.

You need to be careful not to get sued; what you are doing is illegal.

Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 (Fair Housing Act), as amended, prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of dwellings, and in other housing-related transactions, based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status (including children under the age of 18 living with parents of legal custodians, pregnant women, and people securing custody of children under the age of 18), and handicap (disability).

Thank You! We are very new to the rental property business and were not aware of that. I remember back in the mid 80's when our house burned and we were looking for something to rent temporarily, that there were NUMEROUS places that refused to rent to those with kids. So I just assumed that it was legal to do that.

But upon further investigation, I learned that you are correct, it is illegal. So disregard the "No Children" clause. Besides, it is not that we do not like children; we DO like children. It's just that, as a previous post said, Children are notorious for damaging things without really thinking about it.

We will just have to adjust our rental agreements to make sure that the renter is responsible for any damages to the trailer.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!

If you what to ensure that you are covered you are allowed to ask for 1st and last months rent along with the security deposit. Also take pictures of the property inside and out; have the renters sign a move in form stating the condition of the property make sure the pictures are date stamped.
