Oil of clove, if you have it. The best thing for temporary is the wal-mart variety of toothache drops, they are on the shelf, about 2.50 . Take a pain pill of some kind, tylenol, advil, or aspirin. You have my sympathy. "WMA" is a jerk, but correct, you gotta go.

honey there is nothing worse than a toothache so i feel sorry for ya! Go to walmart and get some oragel and some tempoary dental filling ( if its due to that) take 800mg of ibuprofen and see a dentist asap. If your jaw starts swelling get an ice pack and keep it on for 15min and off 15 min and so on because its more tthan likely absest if swelling starts. Go to dentist!!!

I hate when I have a toothache, but I am gonna disagree that "there is nothing worse than a toothache." I mean if you were in the desert and someone cut off you eyelids...I think that is worse than a toothache...or if you were tied down and ants started ripping out your insides in tiny bits and trafficking this through your nostrils and any other opening they might discover, that kind of beats a toothache. And I am just gonna bet that some woman could testify that when little bubby was born, 8 lbs, 13 ounces, that those fifteen hours of labor trumped the toothache. But of course, let us not forget old dan tucker, who died of a toothache in his heel. So my sympathies to anyone with a toothache, or no eyelids or being devoured by insects or giving birth to little bubby.

The Buddha said, floss, or something like that.

Ora Gel is more for denture pain, but it can be used. The Equate toothake drops are far more powerful.

Wonder is right. Last time I had a tooth ache I went to my dentist in calgary and he took care of it. With some advice I've been able to avoid getting a toothache since.

I have tootheache now. I woke at 3 am in agony all I had was three tramadol, two codiene, 3 paracetamol, two nourofen and clove oil on my tooth.
But the f***ing pain must be like what some saxon must have felt when he had his arm chopped off in battle.
You can't change the thoughts at all all you can think is "pain, i am in pain, i am in pain, this pain, i feel such pain, f**k this is pain"
Anyway the liscening laws are 7am in the uk so I bought a big bottle of vodka and now I am soooooo numb I can't even feel anything. I can't feel anything at all.
I aint worried as my body is well used to drink and drugs. If I go too far I just throw up.
Funny thing I am on every pain killer and vodka and really out of it yet my neighbor says I look well today. I put it down to the holland and barret tan tablets!!
When you have a tan everyone thinks you are well no matter what the shit really is.
Sometimes I reckon I do more drinka dn drugs then anyone must do. I just get bored with tv going on about jeremy kyle having affairs and the bbc news about war and putting the world to rights.
My main problem (apart from toothache) is damn boredom.
I get bored so easily.
I also change my mind like I get the train to LOndon to look for clothes then halfway I decide I want to go back to my flat instead.
But man toothache is bad. All you can feel or think is pain.
I reccomend before going to the dentist. I reccomend 6 tramadol, 3 codiene, 4 nurofen, 4 beers and 1 big bottle of vodka.
When I last went to the dentist with toothache he injected my gum which masde it all numb. I asked him if he could inject me all over and where I can buy such stuff for my own personal use.
anyway, toothache is about as bad as getting your leg chopped off in a battle to win the north against the marording picts.

Riteaid (and probably walmart too) make a store-brand oragel that is about $7 a tube. That's high, but it works. Sometimes my teeth or jaw hurt because of a sinus or throat issue.(Not sure why, but if I have a cold, sometimes my teeth hurt). If you have a cold, you could try taking some benadryl too.(It's a mild sedative, it would take the edge off the pain and lessen a runny nose and cough).

If you think you have an infected tooth, and that's why it hurts, take ibuprofen (for inflammation). Also, you could swish with salt water to kill the infection. And this last one... it will hurt but might be worth it... If you think maybe something is caught in the gums around the tooth, try lightly flossing around the tooth that hurts and then rinse. Sometimes I get those popcorn pieces in my gums and they can really hurt.

These are all the things I would do before calling my dentist. Listen, if it is infected, and gets in your jaw, you could get really sick. So do something if it doesn't get better!!!

I know this thread is old and I have no idea why a person from the UK resurrected it, but this info could actually help anyone at any time.

Severe toothaches, especially when they make your entire jaw ache, are extremely hard to deal with. Someone who has never experienced an abscessed tooth cannot understand the pain you can have.

Bottom line is that while you can take something that may offer temporary and very minor help with the pain, if you have an abscessed tooth (infection in the root/jaw) the truth is that you need medical treatment IMMEDIATELY. Infection in the gums/jaw can have serious medical consequences far beyond the intense pain. Many people do not realize that you can end up having heart problems or even sepsis, which is when the infection enters your bloodstream traveling throughout your body and you can die from it. Not long ago I lost a close family member from this, it is nothing to fool with, the consequences can be deadly.

Good luck to anyone experiencing this situation. Been there, done that, too many times. It is no fun. Seek the help of a dentist ASAP.
