Do not go to Morehead State University

You get out of college exactly what you put into it. The professors certainly cannot beat knowledge into kids heads. If you are in college for the party, you have found the right one to attend. If you are in college for knowledge and experience, you have found the right one to attend. Simple as that. Go Eagles!

I agree! I have influenced ALL students not to enroll at MSU. My words were so strong, several students decided to go to another college in another state.
In particular, the teaching program at MSU. The last comment I can remember receiving from an instructor from MSU has convinced me to transfer to another college. I remember asking an instructor why the class has not received grades for assignments that were turned in to her in the month of January, February, March, and April. The instructor's exact words were, "I am busy working on my dissertation, therefore, you all are not a priority."

It is as simple as this, if you don't like it then don't come. If you attend MSU then you chose MSU, they didn't choose you. If you attend MSU then you should assimilate to MSU, they should not assimilate to you. I am a hard core right wing conservative and do I think that campus has professors pushing a hard left agenda and I have to sit through class and hear about how conservatives are killing our country, YES! But if I want my nursing degree then that is a price I have to pay. Even with most of my professors knowing my political position I still will have a 4.00 semester for the first time in my life, not because of them caring but because I am living, breathing, and staying in my books.

As far as the pass rate for the NCLEX Exam the Mt Sterling campus has 100% pass rate and 94% for the Morehead campus which can be seen here. http://www.moreheadstate.edu/nursing/

Don't like MSU, then Don't attend! Don't like Morehead, KY, then stay away!

I agree that enrollment should fall for MSU, solely because---- they fuck you! they really do. I am graduating in 6 days, and all i can say about it is that its a teacher's institution, not a student's. The teachers get all of the power and leniency, when students get the shaft... teachers get the best parking and benefits of a job that they get PAYED TO DO!!! since WE are paying, don't you think we should get a FEW benefits?
The correct spelling is PAID,not PAYED!

I went to MSU for a short time. It was a big mistake. They were not academically challenging and I am glad that my time at MSU is in the past. Rice University in TX is great. Find a better college in KY, like Transylvania, Georgetown, or U of L, or find a relatively cheap college in a different state.

I graduated from Morehead Last year, and they busted my balls for 2 years in the nursing program, which I am thankful for. They would meet with every student who was not passing and try to help each one out. I think that I am doing better than some other new grads, thanks to how hard the classes were, and sure they will let anyone into the campus, but if they don't study they are out of there fast. I also bowled there, we finished 7th in Nationals, and they earned 3 different colleges, Who needs a night life when your there to study : ( Bws and lex 1 hr away.

Well, let me share, I am an MSU alum and my son is a student there, he has a 30 ACT score and a Presidential scholarship, he spent a summer at Bellarmine and another summer at the University of Louisville. He could have gone to any school he chose, but he chose MSU. He is glad he did, he is making good grades, gets along fine with his Professors and enjoys a very busy social life, he is a member of a fraternity and on the student council. As the saying goes, "you get out of it, what you put into it."

There will be professors that will take their sweet time grading assignments no matter which school you go to. I go to EKU right now, and I have had more than one professor in different departmnets who would take a couple of months to give us our homework with feedback.

didn't you visit the schools before you went there, read reviews, talk to students (not the ones that provided the guided tour)...MSU is like any other small town college school, if your looking for something else do it, but don't bash MSU for being what it is...your education is what you make of it and you shouldn't expect someone to hold your hand the whole way

I attended MSU .I have two degrees and a masters. I obtained the best education I could because I desired to get it. I now make over 160,000 a year income. I travel the world and love it. I would suggest to everyone that Morehead State University is an excellent place to get a great education. You get out of it what you put into it. And by the way I am not a dr or lawyer.

Are you serious? The teachers get the benefit of better parking because it's a whole hell of a lot more important that THEY get to class on time than it is that you do. You pay about $6,000 per year to the school for the classes, the rest is just paying for food and housing and stuff that you would have to pay even if you weren't a student. That money goes to pay the people who keep the dorms and classrooms clean and the Professors that teach you. You need them, because without the Professors you will not learn and get a degree, they just need students, not necessarily you. Teachers are widely considered one of the least well compensated for their level of education.
In other words, teachers deserve those benefits, because they WORK FOR THEM. You make it sound like you (or probably your parents) are paying them a check and getting nothing out of it. If that's the way you feel, you should have stopped wasting your parents money and just dropped out. However, if you do agree that you benefited from your education at MSU, then just shut the hell up and get over it.
Glad to see you have been indoctrinated by MSU. The problem here is not that professors get benefits. It's the fact that students at MSU are treated like cattle. They know that they can do what ever they want to students (tuition raises to make up deficit, having a terrible food service by Aramark, or making us pay outlandish prices for any and everything on campus-recreation center that a large majority of students that paid the fee for that place will never see because they have graduated), and no one will say anything because we need the education. This kind of system would not fly anywhere else but in the US, where if you do not have power, wealth, or connections, you're screwed.

Students are treated basically the same on every campus. To them we are a money making machine, not really different at EKU or UK or UL or any other state college. Yes, the BSN program has the only 100% pass rate for liscensure, and MSU at Mt. Sterling has a 100% pass rate for the ADN program. You can read it for yourself in the Kentucky Board of Nursing magazine on Page 24 of this quarters issue, if you have access to it.

MSU graduates many successful people, and some of it's programs, music, nursing, and hopefully space science, are world class. Sadly, many students arrive unprepared, academically or otherwise. It is also true that you can get a degree from an ivy league school that is totally without commercial value. If you don't know what you are going to do with a degree, you are probably wasting your money and their time. If you are considering borrowing money to do that, definitely DON'T DO IT. Student loans are undischargeable in bankrupcy, delinquency makes you inelligeable for federal employment, and they will garnishee your wages and tax refunds. It is a major scam.

Little bird and swoosh. You two are completely avoiding points I made. I am saying that the system is wrong, but just telling someone to NOT go to school doesn't work, because you can't do a damn thing in this country without a degree. It must be really nice being from a wealthy background so you didn't have to borrow money, and I bet you have already graduated Swoosh so you have no friggin' clue what MSU has become recently, with the department cut backs and all. That or you're still here, and you're extremely dumb.

I am not avoiding your points. I am simply saying that you are going to find basically the same treatment at any state university anywhere. The university is in the business to make money and students are the means to that end. There are some excellent instructors on campus...and many that have retired because they did not like many of the things that were happening. Like any other worthwhile pursuit in this life, you get out of it what YOU put in. How hard you are willing to work is the variable that You control, and what you do with your degree is your choice. The knowledge that you aquire is always yours and noone can take it away from you. Don't expect people that have authority to treat you fairly, because NEWS FLASH LIFE IS NOT FAIR,DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE. When people who have authority to treat you fairly and they DO be thankful. The university is only one place where you won't be treated fairly.

So you become upset and the first thing you do is attack my intelligence? Thats very Christian like of you. I take everything that passes by me in life, and question and consider possibilities. It worries me that there are people in this world that want to believe only what they are told to believe, and lay down for anything and all authority, even when they know it is NOT right. And bird? If I prayed, I would pray for you has well, I would pray that someday you'll see the light of common sense, and that you grow your own unique voice.
