Some folks complain that it is all too political-well here is the counter effect to the pill mill bill- heroin.
Cheaper, unregulated and the supplier doesn't worry about the medical board or malpractice insurance. Time to buckle up, it is going to be show time in the hills soon. Like I said time to get prepared.
You've been warned.

Heroin replacing pain pills as drug of choice in some parts of Kentucky
Published: January 25, 2013

By Beth Musgrave — [email protected]

Heroin has rapidly replaced prescription pain pills as the drug of choice in much of Northern Kentucky and Louisville, raising fears that a heroin scourge will soon ravage the state.

In Northern Kentucky, police are finding people passed out in cars at gas stations with needles poking from their arms. In Louisville, initial statistics suggest more than 50 people died of heroin overdoses in 2012.

"We've even found parents in the front seat with kids in the back seat in car seats, wondering what was going on," said Covington police Chief Spike Jones.

Police in Louisville and the Northern Kentucky suburbs of Cincinnati said they began seeing more heroin as early as four years ago, but it was in the last 12 months that heroin surpassed pain pills as the preferred drug of addicts.

The resurgence of the dangerous street drug, which rose to prominence in the 1970s, has prompted one state lawmaker to draft a bill that would stiffen penalties for heroin traffickers and make it possible for prosecutors to charge dealers with murder if a person overdoses on heroin.

Concerned about the increased use of heroin, Attorney General Jack Conway launched public service announcements about heroin addiction this month and now incorporates heroin into his talks to teenagers about the dangers of prescription pill abuse.

Heroin has not found much of a toe-hold yet in Lexington and it's still rare in Eastern and Western Kentucky, but drug treatment counselors and police say they are beginning to see heroin abuse pop up across Kentucky.

Why are you always telling people they have been warned? Who died and left you boss, judge, jury, and executioner? Everybody knows drugs are rampant in KY. I've known about Heroin being the next big thing for years now because it's cheaper. The druggies should worry about this "new" high because this one usually leaves you dead sooner rather than later.

I guess news that is printed in the Herald Leader is insignificant. Since most of you don't get the paper, it is important to share news that will adversely impact your lives.

Anybody can be a harbinger of good news or bad news- you can be both warned or congratulated. I am glad you are so attuned to the drug culture- speaks highly of you. For others that work hard and try to avoid that segment of society they may appreciate this info. If you were so aware, why did you fail the masses by not alerting them and giving them additional lead time. Shame on you.

As other ponder evolution versus creationism- this proves the de-evolution that druggies eventually attain- the path to self destruction and ultimate demise. Leaving the strongest of society to continue on...see, Billy, I took your side.

You really are something else. Do you really think your stupid azz is the only one that reads?? I know about the drug problems because I read newspapers and articles, also. I'm not a person who does drugs and that's why no one on here likes you because you make unfounded accusations about people that you don't even know. You are nothing more than a lonely, bitter, copy/paste phony that pretends to know it all but you don't have an original thought in your think skull that some giant turd hasn't placed there for you.

Keep up with the personal attacks, it is all you can throw. There are a lot of individuals who have given up the old media, and it may not be the first thing they log on to. So you can stop with your self-righteousness gig, because there are people who appreciate a diverse knowledge background, more than just rudimentary opining.

Personal attacks?? Is your memory so bad that you can't recall cowardly accusing me of being involved with drugs?? Well, it's there in black and white, perhaps take a trip down memory lane and reread what you said to me. Hypocrite.

Whizzy pulling the devo references (although probably didn't realize it), Bob bless you.

People been dancing with Mr Brownstone for years. Provided some awesome music in the 90's until they overdosed.

You will be hard pressed to find many families that haven't been affected by drugs in KY.

Show me where I said you were a drug user/seller ? I have not, did not. Again, a liberal semantic surgeon who claims one thing when facts are otherwise.

"Anybody can be a harbinger of good news or bad news- you can be both warned or congratulated. I am glad you are so attuned to the drug culture- speaks highly of you. "

That does not accuse you of using drugs, of just being so knowledgeable and so negligent as to not have warned others of the infiltration of such a drug. I called you NEGLIGENT, not an addict, abuser.

This will more than likely push the murder by overdose laws more fully into affect. The laws are already on the books but very little enforced, many law enforcement agencies are chomping at the bit to go after drug dealers for murder. Some of the comments made by police in the paper, Winchester, KY, shows they are trying to get these drug dealers off the streets permanently.

You have got some major issues going on upstairs, don't you? Now, it's my fault that heroin is on the streets? I'm negligent? How would you know what I do everyday to combat drug abuse in our community? Oh yea, that's right, you don't!! You're a presumptuous old hag that loves to throw blame everywhere on everyone for everything. What do you take the blame for in our current society? How do you contribute to today's issues other than copy/pasting articles that other knowledgeable citizens already have access too? If they have Internet, then they can look at the news sites not just the gossip sites. Why don't you get off the computer for awhile and actually go out into the world and try to reach those without Internet access? Maybe you would actually be enlightening those people or at least you could tell yourself that anyway. You do nothing on this site but stir the pot which tells me you're an attention starved self-righteous ninny troll. Keep trolling I have fed you enough, now I will just ignore you as the majority on here do.

Yes, you chastised me for warning folks, as if you have some superior authority. I said if it is news on the Herald Leader then it is news elsewhere. You claimed you knew this some time earlier, as you were drug knowledge savvy. If one has the insight and knowledge you so professed it is incumbent upon you to alert others who aren't are knowledgeable in the world of drug abuse as you had stated.

Those who are good stewards of society should lead, should alert others and to guide them in your knowledge to prevent the societal decay you turned your head on. So you and Bill can call names, but I will damn sure be right far more often on factual items than you clowns even bring up. Opine away if it makes you feel good, it is the only time you may be right is when you put it down, and no one had the time to read and refute it...in those few minutes you can feel significant.

By the way you failed to meet the earlier challenge to prove me wrong, you called me out and you failed to prove your statement.....see post # 7.

Very true. Have been hearing it a lot more around here lately and that sucks. Once these hillbillies around here find out its cheaper and "better" than pills there will be a heroin epidemic..worse than the pill problem around here. I hate to say this but it's going to get worse. There is a drug in Russia called krokodil, already making its way into us. People are shooting this crap up and it's rotting there skin right off! When they come off this drug it's suppose to be 10xs worse than coming off of heroin...in some cases people have to be put into a comma due to too much pain! Wtf do people get out it? Stupid stupid stupid.
