WASHINGTON – Unemployment rose in more than 90 percent of U.S. cities in June, mirroring a national slowdown in hiring.
The Labor Department says the unemployment rate rose in 345 large metro areas. It dropped in 20 cities and was unchanged in seven. That's worse than May, when the rate rose in only 210 cities and a sharp reversal from April, when unemployment actually fell in nearly all metro areas.
The biggest increase was in Joplin, Mo, which was hit by a major tornado on May 22. The city lost 9,400 jobs in June and the unemployment rate jumped nearly 2 percentage points, to 9.6 percent.
Nationwide, unemployment ticked up to 9.2 percent in June, the highest level this year.

Hey Wisdom - I heard voting Democrat would give you a sexually transmitted disease. Is that true? After all, you are the self-appointed expert on sexually transmitted diseases on Topix? If the Tea Party gets voted in and screws us will we get a sexually transmitted disease? Do you have any sexually transmitted diseases Wisdom. Oh wait - you would have to have sex to get one of those and we all know your fat and ugly ass self-righteous isn't getting laid.

Hmmm- your already getting screwed, you must be too stupid to know it.
The tea party has the financial to stop spending what you ain't got, stop printing money that will cause inflation, deflate other currencies and increase the price of oil.

As a clarification HMMMR- oil is pegged to the dollar, so everytime this idiot wants to do another quantitative easing, oil prices will not recede..which is one of many reasons other counties hate us.

Please do us a favor and don't reproduce-you are a greenhouse gas- a noxious one at that. You are probably better at self gratification, as you must feel entitled to other peoples earned, EARNED income and time invested. Now go back to watching HeeHaw, or looking for your relatives on Cops, or Teen Mom.

Hummm ... I stand defeated Wisdom. I do take offense at your constant diatribe on the ethics and morality of sexual freedom. You are wrong on the prevalence of STDs among normal, consenting adults. The scholarly literature is pretty clear on that. Normal adults engaging in normal sexual activities with other normal adults don't tend to get or transmit STDS. Not an opinion, do some research instead of spouting scare stats from the CDC.

As for the Tea Party, they are nuts as well as the far left. That is the problem with our country now - there is no middle. Nuts on the right, and nuts on the left. What happened to the middle? It will only get worse I fear. One thing is certain, you are dead on the mark about spending what we ain't got ... and the Tea Party's stand on a balanced budget. I'm still trying to figure out the Democrats resistance to a balanced budget?? What it looks like is that most politicians would sell their souls to stay in office. Have sold their soul to stay in office. Social Security isn't called the "third rail" for nothing. And ... most of us don't want to face the music of years of overspending. Starting to look like Greece. I am not too stupid to know I am getting screwed .... only I am not. I am a baby boomer. The next generation is the ones who are getting royally screwed. Maybe ... it may be going downhill much faster than we think. My theory for the last 10 years has been that we are going to experience a gradual decline into a situation much like Europe .. I am not so sure of that now. At this point ... I'd take the Tea Party over Obama. I am convinced most of us have no idea how ugly this situation is. And that ultimately the only solution is a contraction of what we can provide with the resources we have. I am all over the map politically. I am liberal in some ways and very conservative in others. How would I spend my taxes .. I'd kick all these eastern KY pill heads off SSI and put the money into defense. International economics and our impact on the global economy is impossible to quantify. A 10 megaton yield warhead on a low flying cruise platform is easy to understand. We all know there is a LOT of waste in military spending, but keeping that high-tech edge is vitally important for us. Lets not be Polly Anna's, the world is a hostile place. Always has been, always will be. Our geographic isolation saved us in the last century, we'll need more than that in the future. Empires come and go. We have past our heyday ... the cheese has been moved, so lets get over it. I figure we need to get our asses out of the middle east and start using those funds to develop advanced weapons to deal with the Chinese 20 or 30 years from now. Our only effective strategy ... is to make the price of conquest too high.

You folks do realize that Wisdom is right don't you? We are swirling down the toilet fast because we can't sustain our spending habits .. those habits that enable 30% of the population of some counties in eastern KY to be on SSI ...you do the math.

And, Wisdom ... I sure as hell am not living on your nickel. LOL.

Dear Hummm, stats copied are from credible sources like Mayo clinic online and other medical site, not a Wikipedia site. Sorry if the reality in my posts are too much too handle.

Additionally, the only ethical or moral statements made are: actions have consequences and that the female must be proud of herself that she would stoop so low as to have a 3 way from individuals she finds trolling around this site. Again, sorry if that is too much in the way of ethical standards.

Hopefully, even as a baby boomer you can recognize that society is regressing, look around. What we may have accepted is embraced by the next generation, a debasing of our culture.

As for Tea partiers being extremists, show me the extremism in wanting financial responsibility, to cut the dole, to utilize common sense, or for a way out position protection of our borders. Heaven, what chaos and disruption that must bring to the left. If you consider your income as payment for your time involved in doing your work, what right is it for someone to steal your time...to pay for free cell phones, for free birth control? If you feel that is ok, then I have got a honey-do list I need help with; and you will be just with giving up your time, right?

Look at this and show me what is radical, dangerous, or threatening except to the liberal, big government, economic redistributionists? Or perhaps you are afraid of the rights and liberties outlined in the constitution, if so...feel free to head to Cuba, Canada or Mexico...in a non-threatened fashion.

Tea Party Patriots
Mission Statement and Core Values

Mission Statement
The impetuses for the Tea Party movement are excessive government spending and taxation. Our mission is to attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets.

Core Values

• Fiscal Responsibility
• Constitutionally Limited Government
• Free Markets

Fiscal Responsibility: Fiscal Responsibility by government honors and respects the freedom of the individual to spend the money that is the fruit of his or her own labor. A constitutionally limited government, designed to protect the blessings of liberty, must be fiscally responsible or it must subject it's citizenry to high levels of taxation that unjustly restrict the liberty our Constitution was designed to protect. The runaway deficit spending as we now see in Washington D.C. compels us to take action because we know that a heavy burden of national debt is a grave threat to our national sovereignty and the personal and economic liberty of future generations.

Constitutionally Limited Government: We, the members of The Tea Party Patriots, are inspired by our founding documents and regard the Constitution of the United States to be the supreme law of the land. We believe that it is possible to know the original intent of the government our founders set forth, and stand in support of that intent. Like the founders, we support states' rights for those powers not expressly stated in the Constitution. As the government is of the people, by the people and for the people, in all other matters we support the personal liberty of the individual, within the rule of law.

Free Markets: A free market is the economic consequence of personal liberty. The founders believed that personal and economic freedom were indivisible, as do we. Our current government's interference distorts the free market and inhibits the pursuit of individual and economic liberty. Therefore, we support a return to the free market principles on which this nation was founded and oppose government intervention into the operations of private business.

I am all for fiscal responsibility, and we all know that govt. is way too big and imposes too much regulation on business, but do you want to go back to an unregulated market place .. can you say lead paint and child labor?

Again .. what happened to the middle ground. YES, I think Tea Party folks are nuts - or pawns of big business. The leftist are nuts as well.

The Tea Party is a bunch of numb nutted right wingers who are helping ruin our country. I lay the blame for the downgrade from Standard and Poors at their door because they wouldn't work with the House or Senate to solve the debt crisis. I am a liberal Democrat and will support the President in the next election. I cannot wait to see how Michele Bachman performs in the national spotlight. I think that Sarah Palin will look like a rocket scientist in comparison to Bachman.

And so Gold Digger - you think the Democrats did not play a role in the S&P downgrading of our credit rating? Read what they said - cited the dysfunction in Washington and inability of either the Democrats or Republicans to do anything but bicker about hard held party lines. Yeah, the Tea Party bunch are whacky, but so are liberal Democrats. You can be sure of this - Tea Party bunch did not spend us into this liberal government, give everything to everybody mess we find ourselves in. The liberal Democrats are responsible for that. Problem is, no one wants to give. The liberal Democrats want to continue to spend us into a hole giving everything to everyone, and the Tea Party bunch want to roll us back about 100 years and let big business and the rich screw us all. Again, where is the middle ground. What happened to the centrists? Regardless, the Tea Party folks are 100% right about one thing, our present path is unsustainable. We can't continue hurtling along towards a socialist welfare state unless we have a significant tax hike. Personally, I don't want to give more of my hard earned money so low life trash can sit on their ass, fund foreign wars we can't win or keep old people alive well past the point we should allow them the dignity of dying rather than just existing in a nursing home. Whether we like it or not, change is going to come. We can make logical choices, or wait till it gets so bad we have to take drastic action.

Having said that .. you'd better leave my Social Security alone - LOL. That is the problem, none of us really are ready to make the personal sacrifices required to keep this country a great place to live for coming generations. But, make them we will ... like it or not.
