You'll go to hell if you smoke

So, if smoking is evil and sends people to hell, then the people who create cigarettes are aiding and abetting that sin. So wouldn't that mean then that it is also a sin to grow the tobacco, and make the cigarettes and sell them? Look in every store and you see tobacco everywhere. If this is such a sin, why not stop the industry?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all against smoking too, it's stupid, it stinks and it ages people quickly. But the corporations don't care in the least, they've got people hooked and so they're raking in the dough off of this stinky addiction.

So what can be done about it? If you really think it is so wrong - go to the source, the dealers, the ones who profit off of peoples addiction.

Oh, and good luck with that ...
umm wait

Oh and another thing....rather than being so negative and telling people reasons why they are going to hell, why dont you try to be a bit more positive and educate people about heaven and God's love? I mean, you will get more attention with positive words and encouragement. Just alittle advice. Like I said..."be a light". Thats what we should do, and to try to lead the way to the Lord. Pray before you type. If its meant for you to say something, He will give you the words to say.
that is kind of the point that I was trying to make, but I think that you put it so much better -- Thank you!

I tried Chantix but it was so expensive with the Dr. visit I could only afford the first treatment. They were talking about a shot they give you that stops the craving I would like to try that cause I just can't seem to quit. Of all the stupid things I have done smoking is what I regret the most.

grandpappy,

thank you for your respectful reply...a change of pace...and I appreciate the apostle paul's approach money, particularly those parts of his epistles where he thanks people for their financial support of his ministry. He was a grateful guy, working at his profession as a tent maker to support his work of the gospel.

Now me, I am a gauge reader, so I keep reading and doing what I can to spread the good news...not that I have any pretension of being like Paul. I do believe in what I say, that two bucks a week on the powerball is at worst a contribution to education, and at best, a one in a couple billion chance that I could have the cash to do some good things that are presently outside my capacity.

If I pocketed a powerball prize, this week cashing one time after caesar's share, about 30 million, I could change some lives...feed some folk, for example. I was listening to 90.3 and chuck mraz was interviewing god's pantry people...that is just one example of following the loaves and fishes example that my little bit could be a big bit, should the numbers line up and manna fall.

What would you do with the green if 30 million fell from heaven on you?

Do you smoke?

God created every item in the universe...
Good and bad...

According to your theory, you can do anything and not worry about the consequences...

If God tells you to take care of your Temple,
Is filling your lungs with smoke taking care of it?

The Bible has been interpreted a thousand different ways, so I guess it's all in who you ask and how they take what it has to say...

Well, I quit smoking everything. I got caught up and had to do 6 months in jail. Now that I am out I have quit doing everything. I may drink every now and again but it only turns into 4 or 5 beers and once only every month or so. But to all you smokers, if you like to smoke, hell is a good place for you. Will be smoking down there all the time.. ha ha just joking.

That argument could also be made when it comes to heroin, cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms, even poison mushrooms. The bible is not a complete list of do's and dont's. "The Bible didn't say I couldn't" has been used to excuse all manner of despicable behavior.

So I am sober now because of my career. Grow-out-of-the-ground pot is easy to quit if its not environmentally around, and I'm glad that that was my only monkey. But I still can't see how a drug user, whose only victim is him/her self, is DESPICABLE? The Bible does saying that passing that kind've judgement is despicable.

I did not say smoking was despicable, only that a lack of a specific prohibition in the bible is often used to excuse despicable behavior.I used to smoke years ago, but I didn't blow my smoke in the face of others.
