Broke relative

I have a relative in jail. I was the ACLU would look at the Morehead jail. First they can only recieve postcards so that the jailers can read prisoner mail. Now, my relative who is white and local was told to take a razor to shave his head. The jailers gave clippers, without charging them money, to black men that were not from around here.

They charge 3.00 for a small bottle of shampoo, who do they think pays for those things. Local family members, the prisoners are not being rehabilitated and local families are charged an arm and a leg so that their jailed relatives do not suffered in humane conditions.

It's a jail. It's all about making money, just like everything else. I understand what you're saying, but people who end up in jail aren't in a hotel. Things aren't fair in there just like in the outside world. That being said though, I have had a relative in there not too long ago and that jailer is a total pr*ck even to visitors, as are some of the employees. Glad I don't work there.

A jail isn't to make money....it is to house and rehabilitate prisoners. A jail is a community entity not a business.
I can't help if I have a relative in jail and I am not one of the Morehead artisticrats. My relative deserves to be treated like a human.
Back to my first statement poor families should not have to fund the jail. The prisoners should be provided basic necessities. I am pretty sure there are laws in place to protect prisoners.
That's this communities problem and why they will never progress. The jail system is very much like the way old companies worked. The prisoner is in jail with no way to make money, so the families must pay for even the most basic necessities and they are charged for leaving money because the jailers are to busy to handle their own business.
By the way I have never been to jail.

I get what you are saying but I couldn't disagree more. Nothing should be "provided" to a prisoner. By providing for prisoners these basic necessities you are asking the tax payers(who have not broken any laws)to provide for the needs of someone that cannot obey the law. I don't think the jail should be gouging people the way they do but like someone else said,'if you don't like it, don't go to jail'.

I have been to jail, btw. I'm not one of these folks that believe prisoners should be treated to bread and water only but I just don't agree that the burded should be on the tax payers.

Well, Will. I'll bet you'll be pleased to know that tax payers pay for the jail, regardless of if they hand out free soap or shampoo to the inmates! I've been to jail as well so just saying, your logic makes no sense!

I guess the county should send out flyers to all people in the county explaining the rules and regulations...maybe if people know what to expect, they would not break the law and end up in this place.....YEA RIGHT...lol

Careful now, you are letting common sense and the rule of law creep into your mind. Next thing you will want is for the prisoners to be self-sufficient and not on the government teat. Hmmm.

I guess what Repnolonger is trying to say, as long as what you do is legal and within the bounds of law, you are a good citizen. Regardless of whether or not you are rich. Thus, no one should whine and complain about your lawful actions.

If you are doing unlawful things like gun running which results in murders then all accomplices should be prosecuted, if they had knowledge of and obstructed justice from doing its due diligence. Hmmm.

Ahhh, diversionary remarks-then I speak the truth and you can't handle the calling out of your liberal double standards, now can you? I simply stated that no matter anyones financial position in life, if what you are doing is legal then no one has the right to criticize- yet, you find that offensive.

Or is it offensive what Barry and this administration has done with gun running and the innocents that have been killed because of their actions? Or merely offensive to you that it is pointed out, and brought to the light of day?

Facts are facts and you've been hit between the eyes with the truth-you have a plurality of standards...especially when it comes to you getting' yours from the man. How funny. Typical, but funny-you've been caught.

Don't be too hard on whizzer here, he really can't help himself. Every perceived evil can always be traced back to the "libs", if you don't think so just keep reading his blather and he will find some way to make it about the "libs".

Someone, somewhere has said something to this simpleton that struck a chord and he will hear nothing else. It's easier to have a discussion if you just treat him as you treat the children and speak around him as if he were not part of the conversation because in HIS case he really isn't.

I've got someone close to me in the jail in rowan county and it has to b by far the worst and most fuked up jail in ky. Im not from the city and ive been in a few jails and prisons in my life...no im not a criminal myself but ive had many people in my life b behind bars. When visiting these other facilities i have never treated so poorly, spent so much money, or just been basically treated like shyt. And its not only in the jail its inside the government offices and courts. Someone is makin a shyt load of money off how much they charge in fees and just the pay they charging the inmates just to stay each day. Inmates being in jail for a month get released owing the jail like $300 or more. Shyt is crazy. Fayette county jail u can leave money and not have a fee of 25% of what u deposit. Jus sayin that whole bunch there are undeniably unprofessional. Im definitely no better than anyone else but i do know what's right and what's wrong. Get it together!

The public is already paying too much for those who are unable to abide by the basic principles and expectations of the community. Let the jailed individual and his or her family pay all of the costs. They shouldn't be provided with anything, soap, shampoo, etc. Take some responsibility for goodness sake. If the individual or the family is not satisfied with the conditions in the jail, stay out of jail. If you don't want anyone reading your mail, stay out of jail. There are consequences for every action. The consequence for breaking societies laws is going to jail.

Amen! I couldn't have said it better myself.

And for "pissed off", you say that you have had many people in your life behind bars. Take a bit of advice, you better find a better caliber of people to be around and a part of your life or you too, will find yourself there with them. There is such a thing as guilt by association, not to mention that those types will try and drag you down to their level.
