I am currently looking for a daycare for a 2 year old. I need for them to be open from about 8 am until roughly 4:30/5:00 pm.I've heard that Lil Honey's was good, and that they take the younger children. Which are the better daycares in town (Morehead) and about how much do they run per week?

Thanks!!

The Daycares that I know of in Rowan County are:

Lil Honey's
Little Jenny's
Bizzy Bees
Children's House

They are all great and will take young children. I think the youngest they take is 6 months. I could be wrong. Not sure of the prices. Most of them close at 6 or 6:30. Some are later. Wish you luck!

My daugther uses Bizzy Bees and is very satisfied. Her 2 1/2 year old goes year round and her 7 year old goes in the summer. The little one has been going since she was an infant. I am not sure of the rate but I think it is around $16.00 per day for 2 kids. Give them a call!

16$ a day for two children? Wow, not what I was expecting at all...I was lead to believe that it was like 300$ a week (60 a day). I will definitely have to check into that.

I believe someone is very much mistaken on the rates quoted on here.

I am sure all daycares have their issues but a friend of mine works at Bizzy Bees now, and is almost complete with obtaining her CDA (Child Development Associate) degree. However, they told her she would have to find someplace else to finish up her CDA because she would have to be observed in person, and part of it would be that the daycare itself would have to pass an inspection and was told that it would not pass. They said something about tables and bookshelves that were supposed to be bolted down were not, and that most of the workers did not sanitize as often as required by law, but for some reason when the inspectors come they either don't notice or look the other way.

I miss my daycare. Mom used to drop us off at the local auto parts recycling center. She got paid for our fun day of disconnecting various car parts, instead of paying, but they only took three year olds or older. Nap time in the back seat of a wrecked impala...what could be better? So if you know of a junk yard around, ask about dropping off the kiddies.

$16 a day may mean they qualified for Child Care Assistance. I don't live in Rowan County anymore so I'm not really sure about the daycares there. Like I didn't know Lil honey's was closed but thats where the Kidz Kare is isn't it?

I've visited and spoke to countless people about all the daycares in town (including the workers and owners). Most of the daycares average out to about $17 a day (full-time) or about $85-$110 per week. If you qualify for child care assistance you would probably pay about $5 per day.

Here are some daycares that are still open:
Mama Mick's
First Impressions
Marsha Bradley
Bizzy Bees
Lil' Jenny's
Kidz Kare
Children's House (the one by the Front Porch)

Out of these I would have to say that Mama Mick's has the best reputation. The owner has had the daycare for 30 years and she has maintained a good reputation...I think that's pretty impressive. They actually have a waiting list though, so it may be hard to get in. If not there, I would try Marsha Bradley or Kidz Kare. The one place that I have not heard good things about is Lil' Jenny's, but my child also doesn't go there so I don't really know. Good luck finding a daycare though!

I am not going to bash any other daycare but my children go to Little Jenny's. They have been going there for several years and I am satisfied with the care they are given. The workers are clean and respectful, and the daycare itself is very well maintained.

I have heard the Methodist Preschool is a good one. My friend takes her daughter there and seems very satisfied... I think they except ages 2 until school aged... I just looked and they arent listed in the phone book but they are in the Methodist Church across from slones.
