The OEA members are some of the worst people we will ever have to deal with as to radical social behavior; because to the OEA radicals they are at war with the taxpayers.
They have the destruction of America in their minds and they are terrible people because their ideology makes them corrosive. They openly use children to execute their maniacal plans for social progressive changes at the expense of society, and this defines their essence. Wars are won by taking away from the other side the will to continue fighting. The OEA attacks them directly hoping to rob them of their will to stand opposed to the union’s progressive agenda.

Given the latest news from Michigan regarding the passing of Right to Work legislation in that state it is encouraging to know that Ohio is right behind them. No longer should teachers be coerced into to participating in an organization that contradicts many teachers moral convictions. See links below. Forced unionism is a Marxist philosophy and has no place in Springboro. Yes a teacher can opt out, but must still pay a large portion of the Membership dues. How about giving the teachers the ability to opt out and pay nothing.
The Pro Union thugs that attend your meetings undermine and interfere with the Board's efforts of promoting fiscally responsible Pro Student/tax Payer initiative’s. The noise they make always leads back to what’s best for the teachers union interests with little concern for the Student or the Tax payer. Please understand I am thankful for the many great teachers in Springboro, it’s the Union who we have issues with.
Please do not cave to their Thug Tactics, the Community is behind you and appreciate your efforts to be fiscally responsible. Unelected Union Sympathizers have no platform to constantly harass the BOE members as they are neither Staff nor Union Members. As Union puppets their only purpose is create division and discontentment within the Schools and Community.

Check out what the NEA/Teachers Union stands for regarding Homosexuality, Liberal and Christian viewpoints. In my opinion Teachers Unions are like affirmative action, they force employers to compensate groups of individuals based on the demands of the group rather than individual performance/contributions. It is insulting to individual liberty and personal responsibility and is basically a legal form of extortion. Do we really want organizations with these kinds of radical agendas shaping our schools ideology?

Finding ways to methodically advance student achievement should always be everyone’s goal. Implementing academic reforms will, for example, reduce the present need for so many of our students needing to take college remediation courses. This, of course, will immediately translate into money saved for parents whose students attend Ohio’s colleges. And, in order to meet this challenge of higher academic quality, the current school Board of Education and District are, or already have plans to, invest heavily in technology, professional development for teachers, new textbooks, as well as new computers for every teacher, plus much more.
All this being said, there is a lot of work yet to be done to assure you (parents) that we will strive to do more than meet the minimum state requirements. The current Board of Education is dedicated to being advocates for every student striving to push the bar higher than other districts.
Some say there’s no need to change because our district achieved an “excellent with Distinction” rating for our most recent school year. But we live in a world that is dynamic, a world of ever-evolving expectations and realities that require our constant attention. What once was an acceptable level of achievement is now a relic of the past that will ill serve our children and our taxpayers in the future.
As parents, we all desire that our children be provided the best we can afford. We constantly challenge our children with the hope that doing so will help prepare them for the world and better lives than we ourselves enjoy. We are also highly cognizant of the importance of true learning and greatly value education and the promise of what it may bring.
Everyone in the school community has more in common than they have differences. Let us meld that commonality to push forth a better school system than we enjoy today. We owe it to our children. Let us come together to push for real achievement and higher standards that we currently demand.

They way things work now don't seem to get the job done if the test scores presented are accurate.
The test don't look that hard and the blueprint for the math test describe 80% of the questions as low to moderate complexity. If I can get 70% on the practice and I haven't seen this stuff in 25 years kids taking the class should be able to do as good as me. Why aren't they? This board everybody likes to bad mouth has only been her 16 months and this like its been going on a lot longer than that cause the 7th graders and 6th graders aren't setting the world on fire either.
The only thing the same is the teachers and the school district. You tell where the problem lies.

It is now May 2013, almost a year and a half since our "children first" board members starting reviewing our pay to play fees. A lot of good work has been done; but do we know if our school administration team and our outside "boosters board" school sport business is in compliance with all board policy?
Have all thee sports coaches complied with requests and been held accountable for their financial records?

This sounds suspiciously like an ethnic slur. Much like Mr Bowman's assertion that the only way to improve is with more money, as if that makes teachers better at their job. Betting that the same old teachers are going to become more conscientious is a losing bet. Leadership within the teachers ranks is responsible for the morale problems and the lack of drive. After watching year after year after year of these substandard results I am ready for some teachers who can teach the curriculum. If the kids learn the curriculum, passing these review test will be a piece of cake. When I look at these practice test I don't see any lattice multiplication or best guess questions. All the questions have only one answer. If we don't have teachers capable of teaching basic math find some who can.

You have no idea what's going on in those schools, you really think kids care about these tests? My neighbor is an 8th grade teacher at Boro and she told me that three students finished the science test in less then 26 minutes. That's really putting their best effort into it huh? Until the kids are accountable these tests mean nothing

There 400-500 kids per year that went through the 8th grade these past three years. You telling me 300-400 sandbagged that test each year? Bet you are wrong. Better teachers produce better results, we should get some who produce results instead of excuses.

Maybe those children learned the material in her class and breezed through the test. You should allow for the possibility that she is an awesome teacher and the children learned the material. To assume otherwise denigrates the respect due our teaching staff and children.

I note a number of posts degrading the movement among concerned citizens regarding accountability and transparency in government. The opposition fails to provide any specifics on why accountability and transparency would be wrong or unnecessary for the realm of education. The attempts to turn the conversation from the issues of how our children are being educated to anything but education reveals the dearth of defenses available to our ever so frantic friends on the left. The union mold of education appears fractured and the union knows this. Much like the vaunted UAW, the grab for more outstripped the value of its output. In education the value of its output has been steadily decreasing yet their demands for more money and benefits had steadily increased. There appears to be an inverse relationship between increasing levels of compensation and benefits and actual student achievement. The union wishes to do away with the nuisance of standardized testing and replace it with their professional assurances that all is well with your children. This is precisely the situation we fled from over a decade ago thanks to the machinations of Senator Ted Kennedy. Everyone recalls how well social promotions worked for those children who arrived at college without the ability to read or write. Now the union wishes us to return to those halcyon days only with less accountability and transparency and more money in their pockets. The public respectfully disagrees. Real achievement is what the public demands, not the false assurances of a self serving union.

The way I see it, Warren County voted FOR keeping the collective bargaining reforms of SB5 in effect; allowing our local school union officials LESS power and control over OUR school tax dollars.
What's up with our SEA officials demanding MORE MONEY for doing LESS WORK? What's up with our SEA officials launching attacks on character of our good BOE representatives, trying to distract Springboro Voters from the financial reality of No Additional Levy Needed in November?

Enough of this Bowman/Babb Babble-On-and-On about respect for our wonderful teachers. All this Support our Teachers blah-blah-blah is nothing more than the SEA-fueled Fury attacks against our Board of Education members. And for what reason?
Simply because our BOE public officials cared enough to explain to the public how they are conducting the public's business!
And what RESPECT is given by the teachers union to Springboro citizens and our BOE elected officials? Nothing but MORE WASTE of our school tax dollars going into the pockets of the already heavily lines pockets of the SEA union lawyers!
Enough Is Enough! Our SEA needs to stop this war of words against Springboro taxpayers and their elected officials; and just call off this blatant and false "unfair labor complaint" filed over the school district's efforts at increased transparency.

The name you have chosen for yourself is extemely apropos!
These are multiple choice exams. Students that study well typically will either know the answer or they won't. The ones they're unsure about they'll use instinct & deductive reasoning. They'll finish relatively fast.
Students that didn't prepare very well will of course struggle. They use instinct & logical deduction too, but in the end they're forced to do a lot of guesswork. They usually take all the time available.
These problems are the same old problems we chose to face, or not. These problems are the same old problems our parents and granparents chose to face, or not.
No, the problem is NOT in our students.
The common denominator for all students is that the bar of expectations has been quietly but very systematically lowered by each respective state. In order to attempt to mask the gawd-awful sludgepit that IS the (overall) state of America's public schools, dominating liberal leadership consistantly works to pacify, satiate and mislead We The Sheeple by adorning school buildings virtually everywhere with senseless "EXCELLENT" banners.
