Sorry to say this, but these guys are assholes and racist. I have worked in Calabasas for 2 years now, and have been stopped 4 times for no reason. These guys are always stopping "Mexicans" and "Blacks". They even have a nickname for blacks, "BIMBS", which means "Blacks In Malibu" .

Maybe because there aren't many Mexicans and Blacks living in Calabasas. And let me ask you something: Were you beaten? Jailed? Abused? Was your car impounded? NO? You were probably treated politely, and sent on your way. See, like it or not, most crimes committed in SoCal are by Blacks and Hispanics. That's not racist, it's a statistic. So if the numbers are there, then it's not racist for a cop to take a little closer look at you as you drive through an all white neighborhood. You don't like it, start cleaning up your own community.

When my Grandfather came here from Italy, and settled in New York, his little Italian community policed itself. They knew that any crime committed by Italians would reflect on the whole race. So they took matters into their own hands.

When I used to play football, if one player screwed up, WE ALL had to do bear crawls. So we made sure OURSELVES that nobody screwed up. Are you starting to get my point?

Stop whining and open your eyes. There is a reason cops give a second look to certain groups of people. Calling them "racists" is not going to change that reality.

Obviously they didnt bother to ask the people who live in the Century Station service area. The sheriff's are MIA, 9-1-1 calls go unanswered and and there is NO accountability from the top down. I wonder how much Lee Baca paid for this fraudulent "award"

Boy am I surprised, I remember them 20 years ago when they had an abundance of jerks working for them.

Some of them were quite abusive to people like me and my friends even when they were off duty and not in uniform.

I guess they must have kicked those idiots out.

It's working pal. You get stopped "for no reason" and you go home and tell all your friends. So now they know that Calabasas, Malibu and Agoura are areas not to be seen in.....and that's why the crime rate is lower there. These guys have balls and aren't afraid to let them show. The people of these areas also watch out for themselves. When they see and old clunker with 4 guys in it just cruzz'n by they make note of it and call it in. Or when they see an all chromed up pimp mobile with a couple of bobble heads sitting low, they too are marked. Sorry, it's just the way it is........and I for one, LOVE IT!!! Racial profiling? Yeah, you bet and I'm all for that too!

Dont speed in their area. They do not mess around. If you don't look like you belong, yes...you will get attention. And I LIKE IT! Virtually no crime and if they are on a call, expect 5 more cars. DUI stops regularly.....they do a fine job. I don't speed in their areas....they ll get you.

Good job LASD!

It wasn't always that way, they had some real cowboys on payroll.

I remember one who pulled us over probably because we looked young. We were headed to go hiking in the hills and they searched our truck real well. They even temporarely confiscated our eating utensils,(yup the forks too), while they looked for other (weapons) and contraband. I wonder how often the get attacked with forks? About the only good thing they did was finally let us go without a ticket, but I still resent their rudeness.

The bottom line is, if you do not look like you live in a multi-million dollr home, or at least are hired by the owners to clean our toilets or floors, then yes, you will be stopped and asked WHY you are here. A darn fine idea...
Hey Mel, I'll see you and Charlie and Charlize and Cameron and Jennifer at Nobu for Sushi tonight. Don't worry about locking the doors to your houses, we got the SHERIFF'S DEPT. in town!
Mostly they are watching that little weasel David Geffen, Haim Saban and the other BILLIONAIRES, but the millionaires should feel safe, too. The complete opposite down in Nuevo Meheeco!!!

They used to harass us for no reason and then steal our beer when we were kids. Real cowboys is an understatement and rudeness is too polite a term to use for those jerkoffs...

I'm always amused with posts from people who seem to always be pulled over and harassed by the cops. They're always searched, the cops are always rude...it makes me think that perhaps it's the attitude you take with law enforcement, or something else you're doing.

I've been pulled over a couple times, even detained because I matched the description of a robbery suspect. But I've always been polite, respectful, and aware enough to know that these officers don't know who I am. And every single time, the cops were very nice to me, and treated with respect. These events always ended in a smile and a handshake, not me lecturing the officers about my civil rights.

I know some of you think the universe revolves around you, and that the cops should psychically know that you mean them no harm, or that you're just going hiking (and by the way, cops are stabbed with all kinds of things, including forks. What a dumb thing to say!) They're doing an impossible job, so why don't you lower your precious self-involvement a little, deal with your authority/daddy issues, and have a little real world perspective.

And you are a conservative moron. We were over 21. They just liked to harass us and steal things. And if we were driving drunk, we would have been arrested, wouldn't we. Save your self-righteousness and holier than thou attitude for your children...

Well I think it has a lot to do with what you look like, how old you are, and whether or not the cop is a jerk or just a good cop like most are.

When I was young and driving a truck with a shell I got pulled over a lot by police that frequently just seemed to want to see what I was doing and see if I had drugs or weapons in my truck. I was always polite and never considered telling them about my rights, because I didn't think that would help me one bit. Sometimes I got abused and harassed, by bad cops, but mostely just sent on my way when they never discovered anything illegal. I did have guns with me a lot, but that's not illegal.

These days it's been over 10 years since a cop has given me a double take. My truck is largely the same, I drive the same places and about the same speeds, but I don't look like a kid anymore. I also don't think I look like some young kid they can push around anymore, because I'm older. These days I'd be much more likely to report a bad cop because I'm not afraid of them as much as I was when I was a kid, but as long as they leave me alone I really don't care what they do.

I have kids, and I tell them they have to be extra carefull and can't even speed a little like I usually do, because cops like to pick on younger drivers.

Mitrice Richardson, a 24 year old FEMALE was released into a RUGGED and FOREIGN area without a car, ride, cell phone, water, food or purse at 12:28am ALONE!!!!!!

The Law states that a prisoner is to be released into a SAFE environment, now if your response is, "She's an adult and cant be held", its because you DONT know the WHOLE story!!

The call from Geoffrey's CLEARLY stated that Mitrice was acting CRAZY and STRANGE while speaking in gibberish and stating that she was from Mars. She was arrested for having no $$ to pay a tab while Geoffrey's REFUSED payment over the phone by her 92 year old Great Grandmother (who does not drive at night) whom they demanded a faxed copy of the card from at 10:30pm at night.
THE 3 MALE SHERIFFS (It illegal for Male officers to search and book Female suspects by the way) who searched Mitrice and her car DID NOT REQUEST a Psychiatric Evaluation despite finding that she had CREDIT CARDS AND CHECKS IN HER PURSE (which she left in the car that night) THE WHOLE TIME! She was CLEARLY not in the right frame of mind and the calls about her acting bizarr where indeed TRUE!!!!--- THATíS LASD NEGLIGENCE!

There are a million and ten lies on the part of the LASD- most recently- For the 5 out of 6 months Mitrice has been missing, the footage of her being booked into the station "DID NOT EXIST" because of supposed equipment failure. All of a sudden Lt. Rosson reveals he's had the tape in his top drawer the whole time and is able to show it to a few family members yet is DENYING the family a copy of it? BULLSHIT.

The Lost Hills Station is being rewarded for BEST COVER UP! God will see the worthy through as all things come to light and I would NOT want to be standing next to anyone involved in Mitrice's disappearance on a rainy day.

She was "released" in the lobby of the Station, in one of the SAFEST parts of the entire Country! NOBODY knows what happened to her, least of all you, with your conspiracy theories. Tell us WHY an entire Sheriff's Dept. would want to have this young woman go missing. Blacks and Hispanics are arrested every day in Malibu, as well as Whites and Asians. This was and is an unfortunate isolated incident and to say the Sheriffs don't care, well, you obviously did not see the amount of manpower utilized on the first days of her disappearance. There were Deputies everywhere searching for her. One missing woman does not make or break an entire organization. Ben Vereen got hit by a car on PCH driven by David Foster, no charges were filed against Foster. Why? Because Ben Vereen is black or because he was an idiot running around on PCH in the middle of the night! Right in front of Geoffrey's no less! Oh, the irony...but what a beautiful day! Please stay home or at work.

I love the line, "It's illegal for Male officers to search and book Female suspects by the way."
That's a load of crap. With that line you've already shown you have no clue. There are procedures for male deputies to handle and deal with female suspects, but it is not illegal for officers or deputies to search or book a female suspect. Show me that california code that makes it illegal.

Mark, I have to agree. I've seen cops stop white people in certain parts of South Central L.A., particularly during the late evening because you just don't see too may there. Most times, the whites that are there late at night are buying drugs especially if you're white driving through in newer BMW or Mercedes. I'm black, and for the most part, when I was stopped somewhere, the cops were professional. They didn't cuff me or anything foul like that. I presented my ID, paperwork, respectfully answered their questions, thanked by them for my cooperation and back on my way to where I was going. It's a cop's job to be curious or suspicious. I'm not saying there aren't any a*holes out there, but you have that in any organization. If you do happen to get a rouge one, it's probably just bad luck. If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about.
