Not yet. It's still north of Moorpark in the hills. Moorpark College is still open and there are no evacuation orders in the city as of 2pm.

Funny how the news mentioned last night that there will be winds today and firefighters are getting prepared for fires and bam, all of sudden there is a fire by some random arsonist again, what a coincidence. More OT and tax money to the fire dept. Here is an idea, since they happen to know when a fire is going to happen maybe they should start dumping water or retardant in hot spot areas prior. Oh wait, that would mean less OT and money from the already broke state!

Do you really think that some authority knows when a fire is going to happen? And do you think it is practical to dump fire retardand over every acre of fire-susceptible terrain? Get real!

Bro,
analyze it this way. You're a firefighter with the department for 10 years, milking the system with bogus Tax payer Overtime. You make the average LA firefighter pay with OT which comes out to $118,000 dollars a year.
You get your Union mandated OT pay of anywhere from $800 to $1000 dollars a DAY for fighting fires.
So a fire that burns for a total of twelve days gets you to Bank around $12000 tax payer dollars into your account.
But, wait a minute. If instead of twelve days it takes to put out a fire,, lets say it takes 24 days or more to put it out. Get the picture?$24,000 thousand dollars plus into your bank account would be a great addition to that remodeling job you need done on your air conditioned mansion in Stevenson Ranch.
You get the great makeover on your home plus you get to be called a "Hero."
Nice Job, Guys!

There is more than one fire going right now.
You are all so naive.
These guys are not heros!!!!! They are paid to put out fires, that is not being a hero, it is their job. Along with parading around malls and whatever festivals are going on.
Go hang your lame "Thank You Fireman" signs in front of your homes.

Don't think it can't happen. A few years ago we had one that came into the town of Moorpark. It originated in Valverdi near Valencia/Castic area, came over the hills right into Moorpark and then burned through the hills coming down into Simi Valley, and back through the San Fernando valley hills into Steven Ranch/Valencia area. This was almost a full circle almost back to where it began

When was the last time you risked YOUR life to save people and property--you sound like someone who sets--vs. puts out--fires! I don't think we can EVER pay brave firefighters what they are worth to do their job. Maybe next time you need a firefighter or paramedic, instead of calling 911, you should just "take care of yourself" or your "loved ones"--if you still have any left after your post.

SANTA ANA WIND FORECAST CENTER
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA WEATHER AUTHORITY
SEP 22, 2009 - 3:30p

TWO ADVISORIES ARE CURRENTLY ACTIVE, ONE JUST WENT INTO EFFECT AT 3:15 LOCAL TIME THIS AFTERNOON.

THE WATCH OVER THE VENTURA AND LOS ANGELES COUNTY MOUNTAINS IS (SAWA1) AND WILL EXPIRE TONIGHT. ONLY LIGHTER WINDS ARE LIKELY TOMORROW FOR THOSE ZONES.

(SAWA2) HAS BEEN ACTIVATED IN SAN DIEGO COUNTY. THIS SECTION WILL HAVE AN INCREASED OFFSHORE GRADIENT OVERNIGHT TONIGHT, AND FINALLY INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING IT WILL BREAK, SENDING THE WINDS WESTWARD OUT OF THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY MOUNTAINS.

THESE WINDS WILL PEAK AROUND 50 MPH AND FADE OVER THE AFTERNOON, MUCH LIKE (SAWA1).
