On Saturday I had the honor of attending and being a pall bearer at the funeral of my aunt, Martha Warriner.

As the funeral precession left the church and proceeded through the center of town, I noticed a family of four — two adults and two children — standing at the corner of Main and Indiana streets in Mooresville. Until each and every vehicle passed that particular corner, this wonderful family stood there quietly and reverently with their heads bowed.

I would like to express how appreciative everyone was of that gesture. Numerous times during my aunt’s funeral, it was mentioned that her legacy was the living example she set for her children and grandchildren.

How coincidental it was for these parents to be on the corner of Main Street, setting an example and teaching a life lesson to their own children as we passed.

If possible, please express our appreciation to that wonderful family.

Tom Warriner
