Riders leave the Martinsville Fire Department traveling west on Morgan Street Saturday. The motorcyclists passed under an American flag that was hung over Morgan Street from a bucket truck from SCI REMC.

Cloudy skies and the threat of rain did not stop around three dozen motorcyclists and their passengers from taking part in the first annual Breast Cancer Awareness Motorcycle Ride held Saturday morning.

The event is organized by the Martinsville Police and Fire Departments. Police dispatcher Elizabeth Combs said each city department was asked to come up with an idea to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. She said Martinsville Assistant Police Chief Dan Riffel came up with the idea to have a motorcycle ride. Combs said both departments worked together to make the ridge happen.

Riders traveled Ind. 37 to Bloomington, then Ind. 46 to Nashville, up Ind. 135 to Morgantown, the back to Martinsville on Ind. 252.

Riders ended their trip at Jimmy Nash City Park.
