Thanks mimi. I have spent a lot of time trying to learn the history of the area that is now Timbercrest. Your recount can not be found in archives. Thanks so much for your post.

Heartbreaking and disturbing. I truly hope that someday, someway, somehow, this 'cold case' will be solved. I'd like to be able to know that she can rest in peace. I can not even fathom such a loss.
Mimi, your brother and his friend are in my thoughts and prayers. Perhaps, one day (although not likely,I know)they will be able to somehow put their horrible experience into the deep recesses of their minds and possibly (in an odd way) realize that even though they suffered a VERY traumatic event, their unfortunate, disturbing, and horrifying 'discovery' was actually the long, awaited "beginning" for her ~ The beginning of her ability to rest in peace. I pray that this case will be solved and God Bless them for their courage and resolve that fateful day. God Bless.

35 years and nothing. How very disturbing that this was never solved.

Thank you, Mimi, for accurately reporting the discovery of Carolyn's remains. Carolyn was a good friend of ours. I will never forget her mother calling our house, panic stricken, the morning after she disappeared to see if Carolyn had slept over. We were leaving for vacation that morning. We were stunned when she was missing for over a week and shocked when her remains were found 10 years later. Both my sister and I were questioned by the Moorestown police. The Majanes were a close family (yes, they were very vocal) who moved to Moorestown from the Bethesda area for Mr. Majane's work. Their intention was always to move back to MD - it was a limited term assignment. Carolyn was a beautiful, fun loving, and somewhat naive young lady. She was on her way to a party on Main Street when she disappeared. It was very obvious to anyone driving by that this was a large, HS party. Our theory is that someone saw Carolyn walking, stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride, and being the trusting person that she was, she got in. She probably would have gotten into a car with a stranger if they didn't look threatening. We'll never know who it was.

I happened to have seen her late afternoon the day she vanished. We all knew her and her brother too, so saying hi in passing was no big deal.I was good friends with the detective that handled it, and remained that way till he moved. We talked about it several times and he swore that he knew in his gut and heart that the father did it, but he just couldn't prove it. I'm not making an accusation, I am simply repeating what was told to me directly.
Long time resident I would love to contact you directly and discuss the detective's comments.

I was a good friend of hers and she called that night from WaWa to see if I wanted to meet and go to the party. I was sick and didnt go out. Her Mom called the next day looking for her. I was interviewed by police after. At the time I couldnt think of anyone or any situation that would account for her missing status. We were so young and in shock.
As time has gone by, however, I have some thoughts on what might have happened to Carolyn.
First, I knew of a preditory male in high school who sexually attacked me and from what I heard other girls. Why not tell police when they interviewed me? Simply this, I didnt tell anyone out of embarassment untill a long time afterwords. Carolyn also knew him personally and would most definitly have taken a ride from him. I would be willing now to talk about this person. This person might not have done anything but it is something of a link to violent behavior toward girls our age right at this time period.
The theory of her father doing this to her is something that I told police I couldnt believe. I just wasnt around them together enough to see any weird pattern.
I thought about the idea that someone at WaWa caught wind of her wanting to get down the road to the party and offered to take her.. Could have been a person she knew or a stranger who seemed trustworthy enough to catch a ride with ( it was a different time).
Last, there was a chance that as she was walking down Main St. that she could have been snatched right off the street. I heard that no one they interviewed heard a struggle but you never know. She was a tall and strong and confident girl and I think she would have fought hard. The thing about this theory that bugs me though is the idea of Main St. being a road that can be easily gotten to from rt 38 and even rt 70 and 73 and her body was found not too far past the home of the party that night
Her murder is on my mind now even more now there is better forensics and even shows about unsolved cases like this. If there is anything I or anyone can say to help give her justice I know I would be willing to help.

Dear Friend in Cherry Hill. I'm sorry about the loss of your close friend and your awful experience. I know sometimes traumatic events that happen early in life are not processed until much later. I am a female writer located in South Jersey and have been recently following the Majane case. You can contact me at njfreewrite@comcast.net

I am appalled that some persons are implicating carolyn's father who was sound asleep upstairs while I was waiting downstairs for Carolyn to come home. Such trash. We did move shortly after that but this move to my husband's new job was arranged about a month before she disappeared. Carolyn was very unhappy to be leaving Moorestown. The detective in question was a complete idiot. He gave my husband a lie detector test which of course showed nothing negative. We were not satisfied at all with the response of the Moorestown police department. I wish certain persons would stop hypothesizing about this story when they know nothing. We are safely back in bethesda and all our sons are well educated, hold down important jobs and have presented us with 9 outstanding grandchildren. PS-our house was NOT haunted -such drivel!

I'm researching this case and very interested in knowing what high school Carolyn attended at the time. And the group she went to hang out with that night, was it one high school group? two? or various?

Mrs. Majane, I'm so sorry. I just saw this post of yours after I posted my earlier question.(which seems to have posted several times, i'm sorry about that - tech issue on my end perhaps?)

Mrs. Majane I have been doing a lot of research regarding a documentary film I'm making about another case. Might I email you directly? For a bit more about me and this doc I'm researching, please, see link below.

thank you
