She was murdered and found in Timbercrest in 1986. Poor girl. She was one of many girls in the 70s where there disappearance was practically not investigated. Moorestown police did not want to believe that their perfect little quaker town could have something like this happen.

The more important aspect of this is that the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office should take another look at the case otherwise it will continue to be unsolved and remain resting in a quiet file cabinet. The more discussion and attention to this case in the public forum can help to "encourage" a more sophisticated police agency potentially solve the crime. Perhaps the evidence is there and it will take an intuitive, creative, and deductive approach to solve the crime. Carolyn's voice was taken from her the night she went missing, her family moved away, but her story has not been forgotten. How can we encourage the Prosecutor's Office to take a SERIOUS look at the cold case? I suspect that it isn't as cold as some might think.

I am from Moorestown and happened to have bought the house Carolyn lived in. It was a strange situation in that all my neighbors plus previous owners said the house was haunted. I have tried very often to find some clues. Here is what I heard from neighbors. That she was always fighting with her father. That there was a lot of cursing and screaming all the time. I heard that the family moved pretty quickly back to Maryland after her death which did not make sense to me in that if she was thought to be missing by them, why wouldnt the stay there in hopes that she would come home.

Great way to illustrate what a total idiot you are. Maybe you would like to ask some of the police that looked for her, and investigated her disapearance like she was their daughter. The 100's of people that searched for her. Or the dective that persoanally told me that he was 100% certain he knew who did it, but there just wasn't enough solid proof to stand up in court. What you are overlooking is the time between when she went missing and when she was found...not a whole lot of good leads to go on after so much time. To make the comment you did shows clearly that you have some problem with the town, so maybe its a good thing that you moved to Camden...hmmmm maybe I shouldn't insult the people of Camden that way. There are thousands of towns like Moorestown all over this country, perhaps you could find one that might accept you.

Thanks for the personal insult. I am sorry that my post came out the way it did. I really think Moorestown is a great town and I loved it there. My point was about the time. The 70s and 80s were very different. Police departments did not have the same tools they have today and certainly they did not have the media the way they do today.

I have heard that somebody in her family was responsible for her murder. I really have a hard time believing that. Though it was probably somebody that she knew. A classmate? Boyfriend?

I happened to have seen her late afternoon the day she vanished. We all knew her and her brother too, so saying hi in passing was no big deal.I was good friends with the detective that handled it, and remained that way till he moved. We talked about it several times and he swore that he knew in his gut and heart that the father did it, but he just couldn't prove it. I'm not making an accusation, I am simply repeating what was told to me directly.

I'm not closing my file just yet...It could also have been a relative of someone who was connected

I can't believe that finally I found people talking about this! I went to her house the morning after she disappeared to walk to school with her like every other morning and her brother told me that she never came home the night before and if I had seen her. Her family moving out so quick was always strange. I heard one of the football players was questioned, but we always figured it had something to do with her father. They did NOT get along at all. BTW her bones were found at the Tricia Meadows development in Mt. Laurel. She was a great girl and so sad that she left us so early.

That is odd. She disappeared on a Friday night during the summer.

My brother and his friend were the ones that found her remains. We lived in timbercreast at the time. He was 10 years old and to this day is scard from it. In the 70's before Timbercreast was built it was called "Texas Pond" and a major area to hang out back in the woods. It is close to the river and there was a hughe clearing for bon-fires back there. I know that my mother was told that it was a big "biker" hang out then and lots of drugs were involved. Her parents moved to Moorestown from MD and had plans to move back. They didnt move until a year later, and her remains were found December 20, 1985 not 1986, I know this because her skull was on our kitchen table as my mother called the police. it was printed in the paper on Dec 27, 1985. She had been missing for 10 years and 4 months.

BTW, she was ID by the braces still on her back teeth, they didnt find the necklace for about a week after her skull was found.
