i used to work at subway a while back. some of our regular costumers would give us tips and we would put them in a jar and when we got enough money we would all go out to the movies. the tip jar is out front so we don't have to stop and handle the money and then have to wash our hands. if you don't want to tip then don't it is your choice.

It's expected for people who are from here to not tip. I think the tip jar is mainly for the more normal people who aren't from here. We don't expect you to give anything. Cheap F**ck.

Please wait...
As low as minimum wage is, and as high as the cost of living is getting, I wouldn't blame any minimum wage worker who put a tip jar out. LOL Besides, Those type of jobs do not pay well enough anyway. We all just want to live a little better financially.

Cheap F**ck. when you go through a drive thru do you tip?no. it's common that you don't tip at a fast food place, and basically that's what subway is except it's healthier. you tip at a big resturant where you have someone walking back and forth refilling drinks and bringing you the food etc. these people normal don't make min. wage so tips are important. plus I work a min wage job, a retail store, I don't get tipped to clean up after people who come in and pick something up, decide they don't want it and throw it down. I have my own bills to pay, I can't afford to tip someone for making a sandwhich and putting it in a bag.

I am sick of outsiders saying how stupid we are but move here by the bus loads!

It's probably there because Subway workers: Make your food right in front of you, while wearing gloves, the way you want it, no questions asked. Try to be as friendly as possible considering the amount of non-friendly customers that come into Subway from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Prepare that food fresh for customers every single morning before it is served and bake all the bread fresh, too. All they ask for is a simple one dollar tip, and for some reason that is an issue? All waitresses and waitors do is bring you drinks and bring your food out to you, and they are expected a tip. Subway employee do more than they do, and they should get tips for all their hard work.

Waiters and waitresses move around the whole restaurant. I don't think it's right for them to want tips.

"All their hard work"...What Happened, do you think Subway employee literally stand around all day waiting on people to make sandwiches for? How do you think all of that food gets prepped for customers? Do do you think the whole restaurant gets cleaned so that there are 90's on their inspection score? How do you think the tea is made, the bread is scored and baked? These things are magically done everyday, there are people that work hard for ungrateful a-hole like you and have all of these things ready when you want your f*cking sandwich made, so before you go and try to make your f*cking point, how about you learn a thing or two about customer f*cking service, you f*cking cheap redneck!

We really like Subway and live near Big Oak but do not trade at the one on the West end anymore. Most of the time in the evening they would be out of certain foods and rarely have cookies. The owner needs to give this store a little attention. This one is at Alpha Mcdonalds. Hope this (TIP) will help...

I know when I worked at Subway in high school and college they would not let us have a tip jar. However, we did have a few customers that would insist on giving a tip. It was great when they did. I do not feel obligated to tip there but do not have a problem with the tip jar. I know the owner from my years working there and he paid better than most places for similar jobs. So, they do get paid fairly. They are a great family. The Alpha branch has a different owner than the rest in town and I can tell a big difference in service there. So, I try to not go to the Alpha Subway unless I have to. I do have a tip for the early tea dumpers though. I know you have to wash the urns but if you pour it into a big container you can wash that easily closer to closing time. :)

And another thing...why the hell shouldn't you tip at McDonalds? Perhaps if people weren't complete douchebags, their food would be made properly and served to them with a smile on their face. If people at McDonalds are doing a damn good job, why shouldn't they get something extra for it? Dont be so snotty. You live in Morristown, not freaking Hollywood.

if you leave a tip at subway you are a loser, all the hard fckn work my ass, that's what your paid to do, did you fill my drink "hell no" i had to get me own cup, did you bring the food to my table "hell no" you give me a go to hell look when i reach for my bag, did you act courteous when i placed my order "hell no" you couldn't stop screwing with your phone long enough to get my order right, i eat at subway regularly and love it, but subway on the west end besides taco johns has the worst customer service

Most people that have a job work hard. People that wait tables don't even make minimum wage, that is why they get tips. I'm sure they also do more than carry food out to the tables. If you don't like your job try to find a different one. Plus, I can't count the times that I have walked into Subway, and seen everyone standing around doing nothing, or goofing off. Not to mention some of the people there are very rude, and unfriendly. They don't wear name tags, so even if you want to complain, you can't because you don't know their names. I can't believe the manager even allows the "tip jar" to be put out there like that. I almost busted out laughing when I saw it the first time. It is ridiculous. I mean seriously, the people that work in grocery stores, department stores, and the like make the same amount of money as the people at Subway, and you don't see them asking for tips. I know times are tough, but other establishments would never allow that.
