<quoted text>You're out of your league when you talk about hunger in school. I take 4 or 5 packs of cheese crackers every day to give to kids who are hungry. So do others. Stay on the business side of things. I will deal with the hunger in the schools. When is the last time you were in a public school and saw the poverty and hunger in the faces of the kids? This not as much of a political concern as it is a humane effort, but you Republicans don't know shit about suffering and humanity. You just bitch and bitch because a hungry kid get something to eat.
While your actions may be noble they are not a solution to the underlying problem. The hungry child is a symptom to a bigger problem.

We've all heard the adage "give a man a fish, teach a man to fish". Well by today's standards this has changed to "give a man a fish and he will ask for tarter sauce and fries. Moreover, get a politician involved and he will declare all of these things to be among the recipients "basic rights".

Educator for over 30 years and all you can do is take a pack of cheese crackers...instead of buying him lunch or addressing the problem with your superiors and letting them address his or her parents....

Committed to your cause much? If we were the last 2 on earth, you can keep your packs of Nabs. I'd rather starve.

A year ago if I had read your post I would have disregarded it as nonsense, however, my wife started teaching several months ago and everyday she now takes extra breakfast bars, granola bars and snacks because many of the students are truly hungry. It is a sad state of affairs when we neglect our future generations education and stability.
Why not stop taking the snacks and address their parents instead of band aiding the problem? Deal with the problem, even if uncomfortable.

Everyone so afraid of conflict. WTF happened to America?

My bad, forgot. Commucrats are in charge for the moment.

You have absolutely no concept of the problems facing America with hunger. You sit on the outside, advising everyone what to do, when actually you don't know or do shit about it. Go to Singapore soon and get the hell out of here.

•In 2010, 46.9 million people were in poverty, up from 37.3 million in 2007 -- the fourth consecutive annual increase in the number of people in poverty . This is the largest number in the 52 years for which poverty rates have been published (DeNavas-Walt 2011, p. 14).
•The 2010 poverty rate was 15.1 percent, up from 12.5 percent in 1997. This is the highest poverty rate since 1993, but 7.3 percentage points lower than the poverty rate in 1959, the first year for poverty estimates.(DeNavas-Walt 2011, p. 14).
•The 2010 poverty rate for Hispanics was 26.6 percent, for Blacks 27.4 percent.
•In 2010, the poverty rate increased for children under age 18 from 20.7 percent to 22.0 percent.(DeNavas-Walt 2010 p. 14).
•20.5 million Americans live in extreme poverty. This means their family’s cash income is less than half of the poverty line, or about $10,000 a year for a family of four (DeNavas-Walt 2011, p. 19).
•49.9 million people or 16.3 percent of the American people, do not have medical insurance (DeNavas-Walt 2011, p. 23).

I hate all white people. Hell, I'm one f**ked up mulatto, I even hate my white half. At night time my black half always tries to panhandle, rob, rape and kill my white half. It's my black half that has to take my anti-psychotics to keep me from killing my white half. The only time I feel like I want to work is when my black half is sleeping. The only time I feel lazy is when my white half is sleeping. When my black half is sleeping my white half wants to hang him, just to get rid of his crime-ridden, lazy, good for nothing perverted black ass!

It has been and is the consistant policy of the US to make food resources available, so far as possible, to those countries which need them. Where normal commerce does not accompish this result, this government historically has supplemented the supply by sending food, at it's own expense, or at the expense of American organizations.

IMO, our goverment should take care of their own first. I don't hear any of you repubs bitching about the billions of tax dollars going to those overseas. But you don't seem to mind the fact that there are people right here in our own country living in poverty and are sending their children to school hungry.

I absolutly agree with the take care of our own part. As for the "repubs" part ??? I find it amazing that Clooney's pet project the Sudan, recieved US aide AFTER a private fund raiser for the President last year. There is enough BS to spread around on the "tax dollar" spending. That money should have been spent here in the US.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Scorpio

It's a frustrating and rather disappointing day because you have to cope with delays and setbacks to your plans. A travel arrangement may have to be postponed or there could be a hitch about something connected with education. You're also feeling subdued and tired, and you're longing to spend some time on your own although this may not be possible. Don't worry, this difficult mood will soon blow over.
