Homeless Man Dies Van Fire

Officials say a 62-year-old homeless man has died after the van he lived in caught fire.

Its always sad to hear of anyone being homeless. It breaks my heart to know this poor man died , alone in his van from a fire ,especially after being in the hospital.. someone had to have known he was living in that van .. someone who could have made a difference in this mans life.

i sure hope and pray this man had turned his life over to JESUS. makes me feel bad because i know i myself need to do much more for the less fortunate of the world.

Will lawmakers take up this cause? Why do the homeless live in vans? This is 2008 for peats sake! We must get our lawmakers to stop this dangerous practice. Did this poor sole work at the Sumter chicken processing plant?

Most of these people would rather be homeless, I watched Okra a couple of weeks ago and they had homeless people they tried to help, and everyone of them would rather be homeless than have any responsibilities. It was too much pressure for them. I think most of them have some type of mental disabilty.

it's not, Denmark is according to the CIA Factbook, they enjoy a standard of living second to no one in the world. America is still good and definitely the most powerful though.

Go take a trip to Mexico, Europe, or Asia and see how life is in those countries are. You might begin to understand that although our country is not perfect, it's still the best deal around. There are plenty of people living on the streets or dusty roads who would consider themselves lucky to even have a van to sleep in. Who knows what led this old guy to his fate and the tragic nature of his death, but bashing the whole country doeswn't help. Expecting the government of a country of 300 Million people to have been involved or even be held somehow liable for it, is streaching things a bit to far.
