It's so sad that just for the love of money, these two men were fighting over being this poor dead kids father. Where were either of these men when it was time to time to teach Jerrod that you don't take your uncles car without permission and without a license and drive toward a bunch of other children at a party. The policeman fired his gun because he perceived the danger to the other youths at the party. There was police security at this party because sadly and often, there are driveby shootings etc at parties in poor areas like this. It was a series of unfortunate events that led to Jerrod's death, however the police were not responsible. The blame rests on the young man with bad judgement and his two fathers who hadn't the sense to teach him right from wrong. The settlement is just an act of political correctness and appeasement.

"Officer Darren Cogoni shot Jerrod Miller in the head as the unlicensed teen drove his uncle's Cadillac down a narrow breezeway during a dance at the Delray Full Service Center on Feb. 26, 2005. "
Our thanks go out to officer Darren Cogoni. You sir are a good American. You did the right thing is erasing the stain on humanity that this worthless, reckless thug represented. Good shooting, sir. Thank you for shooting him through the head...ensuring the death of this thugabee.
What a typical response from the "family(?)" of the thug. Miller's "family" steps forward to collect the money of course. It's the only time they had any use for Jerrod. Presumably they are grateful for the cop's most excellent decision because it means a payday for them. No doubt in my mind that the million bucks will be squandered on cheap women, cheap wine and pimped out cars & clothes.
Delray Beach...pay off these animals; you have no choice as long as lawyers keep chasing ambulances. I hope the good police officer Darren Cogoni is gainfully employed somewhere in law enforcement. He is a hero to many of us because he did what we all wish that ALL cops could do with criminals: KILL THEM ALL!

May God forgive you for your hasty words and God forbid anyone in your family has there life taken prematurely. You represent the majority of the world which is that of mediocrity thus your dispicable comments. Its fortunate for me that you represent the lower tax bracket which continues to make me rich. Stay stupid, okay?

If the Miller kid came from a good family he would not have driven the car. How much was his uncle sued for?
To the fired office: Good Shooting.

wow all these years later and people still feel like the officer was right in taking that boys life. how about this that neighborhood which i live not even 2 blocks from is not a bad neighborhood and isn`t riddled with drive by shootings sorry everyone knows each other over here so that would never work. 2nd the kid had a job that why he was allowed to drive without a permit becuase he needed to use the car. mind your business because why he didn`t have a permit is none of your concern. calling these greiving parents whatever racist names you can come up with is just evil. do you know how many white/hispanic cops kill unarmed, innocent, non-violent black men every year? no you don`t but the people that live in these kinds of neighborhoods do and so do i. and if you really wanna know how often it happens go to some larger cities like miami, NY, chicago, ect. and see for yourself. im glad they sued and 1 million is chump change for all the drama they went through before and after losing this young man. all you ignorant ass white people should be ashamed and be on your knees begging GOD to never reign down on your family with something unfortunate like this or worse. oh and by the way that kid was around my age. i guess you have never been a teen before i guess you were just born and then went straight to adulthood. but teens make mistakes and contrary to what your dumbasses think there are lots of families of all races that let their kids drive without permits. regardless he was young and made a mistake an the family like anyone else would assume that your child should be able to go down the block with the car without ending up in a funeral home by midnight. and if you want to blame someone blame sorry ass delray p.d. because they suck i know this from experience some of the worst police work i have ever witnessed. my house got broke into once i live 5 blocks away from them tell me why it took them over an hour to show up just for them to tell me sorry we cant do anything and the dispatcher was rude to boot. bottom line theres a reason why rookies dnt work in schools and why they don`t do crowd control because their too damn jumpy and not to mention white are already scared to be in this neighborhood yet you send a young white guy to police young minority teens at a party thrown at an alternative school. yeah that was brilliant.
