How about Lake Cty cities changing retirement programs of its workers to defined contribution, like 401(k) that the private sector has, instead of the vastly more expensive defined benefit type? Lots more suggestions if the cities are truly interested in cost-cutting (yeah, right).

All fiefdoms have levels of privilidge. Throughout history this seems to never change. This time there seems to be an economic issue that does not want to go away. All of you local government people. The layers of wealth built up over centuries are being peeled away from the pulp and is getting close to the core if you compared this to an apple or a peach. This age of wealth which we are all used to, is slowly being replaced by an age of force, which we always read about in history books. That always happens when good times end. Will we the citizens of America end up the new Germans? How about the new Russians? Over the years I have read and seen all manners of American citizens act so forthright about so many issues. Well if the worse scenario issue will be tested about your views when we all have to do more with a lot less. Let us hope that does not occur. And that it remains just conversation among people as a view of disagreement about politics.

It looks as if someone is running off at the mouth without doing any research. Do you know that the City of Leesburg just ditched its pension plan and converted to a 401? Apparently you aren't paying attention. Do you know Leesburg has eliminated their performance raises for next year? Do you know they cut take home car benefits greatly? Do you know their City Administrator cut his own retirement in half? I think he cut his own car too. And they laid off a bunch of people. I've followed Leesburg politics for years and have never seen this type of cutting. I know they closed the library a few days a week and I think they are closing their swimming pools. Mt. Dora closed their pool too. I'd like to see some more cutting done, but I think this is the most aggressive action I've seen in my 27 years in the Leesburg area. Apparently someone was paying attention to the will of the Amendment 1 voters.

It would be asking too much for this guy to do some research before writing.... Very unprofessional
