Power companies are the second largest consumers of water after the agricultural industries. The average water consumed to produce 1 KWh of electric is 27 gallons. With the average home consuming 40 KWh per day it takes 1080 gallons per day or 32,400 gallons per month to produce this electric. This is four (4) times the amount of water that a home uses monthly of 8000 gallons.
Most homes owners use over 25 incandescent bulbs, changing them to CFL will save over 4000 gallons of water per month, and over $35.00 month in electric cost. Only 12% of homes are considered energy efficient. Why isn’t there a bigger out cry to conserver energy? Just another BIG SECRET kept by BIG ENERGY, quickly draining the water supply.
Banning incandescent blubs ONLY in South Florida homes would save 222,222,222 gallons of water per day. Including businesses and cooling energy cost South Floridians would save over 444,444,444 gallons of water per day. This alone would also reduce 8,230 Mega Watts of power daily, or the need for 3 power plants producing over 2,500 Mega Watts daily. Again including businesses and cooling energy cost we would need 6 less power plants. If this ban was done nationally we would ALL save over $0.50 at the gas pump.(95% of the energy used by incandescent bulbs produces heat)
Hot water solar systems will reduce most homes energy consumption by 1/4. There is a guy in El Pasco, TX that sells a concentrate solar dish for 1/3 cost ($1600) of most systems on the market. Any DIY can build a solar collect system for less than $400.00. Both technologies take very little smarts. There nothing simpler than changing a light bulb, but 88% of our population is either too incompetent, uneducated, or unskilled. The savings of replacing all the incandescent in a home with CFL bulbs is nearly $3000 over the life of a CFL bulb. Who can afford to waste $3000?
