We already have consolidated fire and law enforcement service. It's called Lake County Fire Rescue and the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Eventually, the city fathers in these towns will see the light, and ask the county to serve these areas. We will end up with more professional service, and a cost savings. It's really the best way to do it.

Goodgame - "It won't benefit Clermont". Firfighter from Minneola - I don't see how we can work together. I am so tired of this crap. I am so tired of these kind of elected officials. WAKE UP People. These people are close minded dim wits. Mayor Yeager - at least you put an idea out there, not nealry as crazy as the gambling - but atleast its an idea. May God help this County and southlake.

how long must each city duplicate services? The day is coming when consolidation of services will be necessary to reduce taxes.

Very good idea from Mayor Yeager. Goodgame is a senseless old geezer, who would not know a good idea if it hit him in the face. A Metro South Lake County emergency services agency would be a great idea. Services are dupilcated sometimes triplicated by the agencies listed.Montverde and Minneola are currently under contract with the Sheriffs Office. Groveland and Mascotte police are run by old geezers like Goodgame. If the uneducated hose dragger had any sense at all, he would see the consolidation of services as a chance to promote and make more $$, but then again we are talking about a rinky dink Fire Department anyway.

Yeagers motivation on this goes back to his Water treatment mess. He had the chance to jpin Clermont's water system, but choose independance then. Now that his little town will be going bankrupt from his poor judgement, NOW he wants to join forces! Insanity!!! Really Sad that this guy has the ego and lack of intelligence that he does.

You hit the nail squarely on the head "critics". If local governments TRULY wanted to save taxpayer dollars they would consolidate fire/police services, and place them under the umbrella of the county. However, most municipal commissioners and management teams can't stand the idea of not controlling these entities. They would rather drive their own police/fire departments into the ground before surrendering control to someone else. That's exactly what's happening in Leesburg. They've made the quality of life so unbearable for it's employees that police officers are leaving in droves. The Leesburg leaders would prefer to decrease public safety to its citizens, rather than surrender control of its public safety departments.

They preach the rhetoric of saving their constituents money, but lack the fortitude to follow through with it.

Minneola already has a consolidated Sheriff's department policing the town under a contract that cost the taxpayers about one and one-half million a year. Check out the cost
go to www.lcso.org and click on the little yellow budget thing. Scroll down to Minneola and you can see all the abuse in overtime, employee family insurance and Two-hundred each holiday bonuses. Oh, don't forget they all get four and one-half percent raises on their anniversary
date. I'll bet Tim Crowe didn't get a raise, a bonus and his family insurance paid. Maybe tim should reconsider this consolidation thing might not be that bad, his union didn't get him all the perks the Sheriff's working for Minneola get.
