If the proposed pipeling is such a good deal, then let the backers sell the projected potable water to subscribers, prohibit the issuance of tax-free municipal bonds to build it, and let them pay the entire cost for the system and require them be responsible for collecting the monthly fees and maintainence but stay out of the taxpayers' pockets. If the project is feasible, then let it sink or swim on its own merits without any public subsidy.

Amen to that, but since the Florida legislature is run by the growth at any cost crowd, I suspect the taxpayer will be hit again.

It is beyond me to comprehend the level of greed and selfishness exhibited by those who suggest that water be obtained from our stressed river systems to facilitate "hypergrowth". In their eyes, their need for additional wealth surpasses all responsibility for the quality of life of all Floridians. Wanton destruction of the state's resources in order to accomodate the land development, real estate and construction industries is short-sighted at best and utterly reprehensible at worst. We need to learn to live within our means!

St Johns WM Needs to propose this plan due to the fact they are giving niagra bottle co. permission to take 177 million fresh water gallons out of our acqufer. Real smart move on the water natzes
