See where VDOT is going to spend over 2.1m on .01 road at longfield to straighten out the curve where it meets 205. Money sure could be used for light.

True, but then you have the morale busting thought of, "We're stupid" every time a driver has to wait with no one there :)

I post anonymously due to my job. I am more informed than 99% of the people in this town because I make sure to keep up with everything.

While I disagree with the usefulness of a light here, I have no issue with people saying it is needed. I believe our country would be better served by more education, thought and patience.

We cannot put signals everywhere. Look at the fredericksburg area now, signals every where, even when they are not needed. There are still accidents every day. So much of that is because people don't pay attention to driving.

As for the change on Longfield Road. I think it has some good thought in mind and when it was first brought up there was more VDOT money to go around. Now, I think it might be better served to wait on it.

However, if you don't know the road, that last curve, before the stop is a hazard. You cannot see that a Stop sign is coming, plus the sight lines are short.

That Stop sign gets run over multiple times a year, so obviously people are hitting it.

I think it would be better served with a sign warning of the coming STOP sign. One with a flashing light on top (the small ones that are typically solar powered.)

You can contact VDOT with your thoughts, they are taking comments until 6-21 on this issue.

That was done 3-4 weeks ago VDOT just don't understand they only look for the money that goes too them when ins. pays they replace when want too. WE NEED A LIGHT NOW,not just cutting back weeds.it don't save lives, I just pray that a light HELPS saves lives.

lights cant correct mistakes made by drivers, thats why people are tboned and killed at intersections everyday all day long in this country. you cant fix stupid. and i include myself in that statement, life would have been much better if i could have removed the stupid from it.

I am very pleased this has finally happened. Has anyone seen anything in the news about it yet? Once its printed, it makes it harder for VDOT to back out , in my opinion.

Thank you VDOT. I too have become a victim of that intersection being a new resident at the time, someone pulled out in front of us and we had an OMG moment. We were on Rt 205 going towards KG in a large pickup and the other vehicle turned left onto Rt 205 from Rt 218 right in front of us. Thank god no one was seriously injured after going to MWH. It wasn't our fault but I wanted to say to the other driver what were you thinking. BUT now having to traverse that same intersection twice a day on a daily basis I more fully understand the need for a light. And with the new Walmart in KG, more of our seniors and young adults will also be traveling in that direction and I can only hope this will contribute to making it a safer trip for everyone.

I do not live at the beach ,do not want to live at the BEACH, but I do visit quite a bit . When you make the right turn at the light, on to 205 at OAK GROVE as I do when visiting the beach ,my flag goes up. At the very first road to the right ,folks pull out in front of me all the time . I think their motto is ,if they see me ,they will not hit me. The same at the bridge. Drag strip road another bad spot .I could go on butttttt!!!!!!!!!! As the man said about the Texaco station , a nice place to visit ,but I wouldn't want to live there.ONE SCREWED UP LITTLE TOWN traffic wise.
