We probably agree that Asheville has a long way to go before we are a truly multi-modal city. I'm only taking issue with the allegation that the city doesn't care about these issues.
They do, and the evidence is there for those who care to look.
Maybe I notice it more than you since I bike and use the bus to get around town - it's my primary mode of transportation.
So much for your theory that it's not a "plausible reality".
Riding a bike to work downtown from West Asheville is dangerous. People do it, but I value my life more than just being able to say I ride my bike to work!

Why is it more dangerous then other froms of travel?

I think the Bridge back from downtown and Enka exit on 40 ave as dangerous if not more than clingman and haywood.

Go ahead, by all means, ride your bike wherever you want. You can ride a unicycle while juggling knives on fire during rush hour for all I care! It's your life, or should I say, it's your funeral!

That was not really an answer to the question.

WHY do you feel it is more dangerous to ride a Bike on haywood then it is to be the last car in line at the end of smoky park bridge at 515 waiting on the light?

Yet another example of how your children were deprived.
And just what do you think my children were deprived of?

They rode bikes their entire childhood, but even as young children they had sense enough to stay off these treacherous roads around Asheville.

Where did they ride, in your driveway?

I am surprised that you even drive these roads as scared of them as you are.

Many people just chose to not live in fear. They chose to not be obbsessed with cyclists rearends. They chose to take care of their families. They chose to be police, doctors, plumbers, and construction workers. And yes some chose to ride. Those that chose to ride a bike, be it a Harley, or a Huffy chose to accept that there are people like you that feel they should be able to chose for them.

We all know that you will continue to judge all these people. We have several olympians here. Next time we medal in cycling dont celibrate the USA kicking the worlds tail. Think insteadn of how that person is out being stupid on these dangerous roads.
