We need Ms. Taylor back in our fold. All efforts should be made to find her immed.: dog teams and search teams of expert hikers. Any volunteers would be appreciated. The police and fire depts. should have had an all-out search of the Montreat hiking trails days ago.

But where would they search? Do they have any idea of a starting point?

I think the cab driver knows a whole lot more about this.

I write this in response to the letter "Inflated Tires" (Aug. 9). In taking Sen. Barack Obama to task for suggesting that the motoring public should do simple things such as correctly inflating tires and keeping their cars tuned, the author of that letter writes: "Hundreds, thousands, and even millions have been doing it because that's how you take care of a new vehicle!"
I work in the car-care business. Every day I see customers who have no idea that their tires are low on air, their air filters are dirty, or that they use the wrong weight oil. Just by using the correct weight oil, changing the air filter regularly, and yes, keeping the tires properly inflated, a driver can save up to 15 percent on fuel. On my vehicle that is like adding almost 3 extra gallons of gas when I fill up!
These statistics come from the U.S. Department of Energy. True, one person alone will not make a difference, but imagine the savings in fuel and money if every one of the "millions" of drivers that the writer refers to will just do the simple things to keep their vehicles in top running condition
I believe you posted on the wrong site.

Could it be she is running away from an abusive husband or boyfriend? Hope she is safe anyway.

I have not understood this situation from the beginning. Does she have a mate, children at home or does she have no one to answer to. I understand she is a teacher and school started last week. Has she ever been gone without notifying anyone before. It just seems to me that the officials are not rushing on this and I think they must have some reasons and if not they are not doing their jobs. If this is was me and it was out of the norm for me, I can guarantee you that my family would have searches going on and would not stop until I got some questions from the taxi. Maybe the law has dones all this but it is not being reported. A lot of unanswered question but I do hope all is well with her.

This behavior is not the norm for Sue. One of the problems is that the media has not been too eager to report. It has not been reported on 13WLOS at all. Sue has an adult child and she has many friends in this area. It is unusual for her to be gone for this amount of time without calling anyone. While I am not a detective I do think it stands to reason that even if she left on a hike voluntarily something could have happened that she didnt expect or want to happen. I hope that her family starts to make some noise so that the area police will start to take her disappearance serously. We love you Sue and hope to see you home safe soon!

I believe that Sue has been seen on several occassions after the cab driver left her, perhaps she has decided to go and find herself, she is from Asheville. If seen in other towns then she is not missing from Asheville. If an officer finds her and Sue wants to be whereever she is they have to leave her. Has the family taken any steps to have Sue evaluated if located? Law enforcement cannot take Sue without paperwork authorizing them to.

Sue has been seen several times by residents of Montreat as well as by at least one Montreat Police officer several times. APD has said that she appears to have left on her own accord and believes that she is out collecting herself. She is a teacher for Avl City Schools. She may just be out getting her mind right for school starting next week. If she doesn't show up for school on opening day, then maybe it is time to get concerned

Where are these reports that she was seen and approached by a Montreat Police officer? I haven't read that anywhere. Nor have I seen where the APD has said she might be out "collecting herself". Personally I hope she is just having a walk about. That would mean that is is physically alright. It appears that people are jumping to the conclusion that she might not be mentally stable. I don't know if that is the case, I do know that I hope to see her smiling at me again.

Thank you for the information. If police have verified her welfare and personal safety and she has chosen to stay out of Asheville then she is entitled to do so.

will we still be lynching the 'abusive mate' referenced earlier?

my pitchfork is in the shop, but should be ready for stabbin' by wednesday.

i'll practice with a dull stick on any suspicious looking men in the neighborhood till then. after all, they want to be molesters/abusers deep inside.

At some point, hopefully soon, the APD can no longer accept Sue as "voluntarily missing". Her recent behavior is very atypical. She is very responsible. She is a sweet and loving person...a caring and nurturing friend. We miss her and love her and need her to come home.

We love and trust that Sue is doing well. She is a valued friend and teacher in our community and we can't wait to have her back.
