I'm relieved and glad she is safe but so much of this story doesn't add up. I'll be more than interested in finding out what might have really happened.

Exactly! And the claim that without food, she was too weak to find her way out? What about the first 48 hrs.?How did she survive a week?
And left her credit cards?
No. The facts don't add up.

Sounds like a mental breakdown, she might not have intended to be found...

Plus, no water or food-- that definitely doesn't add up. But I am truly glad she's ok-- and hope she's ok to teach too.

Glad she is safe and sound. Hope she has learned it isn't safe to go hiking alone.

Why did she leave her car in DT Asheville and then take a taxi (that costs about $60) to Montreat?

Hmmmm.....

That's very possible, as it can happen to the best of people. Also, a great big whooping thanks to the dogs and their handlers.

1800 Bedlam, Some people are found wandering the woods and fields. They arrive at this condition from a great shock to the mental system. They can eventually be returned to normal society with the proper care.

As everyone else said, I'm glad she is safe, but I truely think something else was at play here. I hope she gets that addressed real soon. Alot of people were very concerned and resources spent. Hopefully a happy ending.

If she joined a hiking club, she must be interested in the activity. However, I am left to ponder why she'd go hiking in Montreat when there is plenty to see around this area. Also, why alone? Why leave her keys and credit card? She didn't intend to come back, it would appear. Most serious hikers take a pack with some snacks, water, etc...Two things come to mind. She needed some serious attention or she has definitely had some sort of mental anguish that led to her leaving and not ever wanting to be located.
