If one truely believes in god then every country is under god so the additional words are unnecessary.

I believe the MAJORITY of people believe that "One Nation UNDER GOD" is completely appropriate, and it's time for whiners that are in the vast minority to get over it. I can't infringe on their rights, but they can on mine? BS

If you were the minority should the pledge state "under chaos"? I don't think any faith or lack thereof should be in the pledge. Return it to the way it was first written.

I think this country was founded on Freedom of Religion, not freedom FROM religion. I have said that pledge and will continue to say the pledge, in it's current form.

If you don't feel WE AMERICANS should reinforce our Nations Founderss beliefs, then maybe Atheism is more your style.....BUT, FREE AMERICANS want "Under God" left alone.

The laws of this great land were created in the same manner as the 10 Commandments. Laws are a way of listing what is morally correct in our society. Any law for or against any religion is unconstitutional. That being said, for you to ask that anything considered religious be removed from anything public, govermental, or otherwise, is asking that the Constitution be ignored. Likewise, atheists are protected as reciting, "One nation under God", is NOT required for any reason whatsoever. Nobody said you have to have religion to be patriotic, but to want to remove all traces of religion in public is simply Unconstitutional and UnAmerican.

The pledge was not written with "under God". That was added later. If you want the tradition of our country you should want freedom of religion. I am not an athiest but I do realize that there are religions other than my own. If I am using my own words I would use the phrase under God but I don't feel we should force others to use those words. If under God was not in the pledge He would know that that was my intent.

The constitution clearly guarantees freedom FROM religion as well as freedom of religion. In other words I have the right not to be subjected to medieval superstitions. I could give a rats rump what a majority of people believe. You have a right to your delusions just as I have the right to reject them. Amazing how christians have no respect for the rights of others.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof"

This would apply to freedom of and from religion.

"The laws of this great land were created in the same manner as the 10 Commandments."
I suppose you think Thomas Jefferson saw a burning bush...

Many of the framers of the constitution were Deists rather than the mainstream Christians of today.
