National Health care will work just fine, as long as it is rationed. Old people will simply need to stop using so many medical resources to keep the cost down. Here is a quote from an April 27th Boston Herald piece:
http://www.bostonherald.com/news/opinion/op_e...
It is estimated that a third to a half of one’s lifetime health costs are consumed in the last six months of life. Accordingly, Britain’s National Health Service can deny treatments it deems not cost-effective - and if you’re old and infirm, the cost-effectiveness of treating you plummets. In Canada, they ration by queuing. You can wait forever for so-called elective procedures.

Rationing is not quite as alien to America as we think. We already ration organs for transplant according to survivability criteria as well as by queuing. Nationalized health care would ration everything from MRIs to intensive care by a myriad of similar criteria.

I can pay for my own health care and I refuse to wait for the Federal Government to tell me when I can have my next mammogram. That's what it will be. The people that can pay waiting in line behind the poor dummies that say they can't pay. What a lie !!!

NOT a right.
It has been fine the way it is for many years. Whats the sudden rush for Gov.to take care of us.
Wait mths to see if yu can have an operation? Have them tell us what Dr.we can go to ..no thanks.

Anything the government gets into..ends up a mess or costing tax payers more every year.

To help the elderly LBJ insituted Medicare, for the poor Nixon instituted Medicaid. If there are uninisured working people that need health care in Americac, put them on Medicaid and I will pat. I am carrying Octo-Mom from my federal payroll taxes already, 4.6 million more doesn't mean the entire health-care systen should be taken over by the Central Federal Government of Washington D.C. Big daddy don't care, he just wants what he wants. He gets what he gets and everything more. I give what he wants until he says I have nothing more to pay. If you work, you know. If you are "entitled", you get it all and do not have to work. I am tired of paying for the phoney liars and I want to know what is going to happen when I refuse to pay anymore?

If you refuse to pay, there are 2 options. 1) Go to jail, 2) get a job for the Obama administration, like tax cheat Geithner did.

That wasn't the point of the quote, for pity's sake! The issue is not rationing healthcare to the elderly, but examining the wisdom of extraordinary methods taken in the last months of live that generally prove futile, and often worsen the quality of life. Any and all resources are limited, and the most expensive one's more likely so. We pay a higher percentage of our GDP on healthcare than any other developed nation, yet we rank near the bottom of every measure of general health. This is unsustainable, and an open and free debate is essential... without people attempting to create fear and division.

If we would just start killing people when they turn 70, we would have no problems. Let them retire at 60 and then recycle them at 70. For the good of the people!
