If you use this service make sure you call and tell them to put a block on all outside services or they will allow any company to add charges to your bill for services that you never ordered!

They tacked on a long distance company (MCI) and they charged me 170$ for less than one hour of long distance calls, (as if I made them all collect from a pay phone) when I had a long distance block on my phone. I just didn't know that some cell numbers are not local. Needless to say that was 6 months ago and they have not fixe dthe problem.

It has taken me 5 months & more than 10 hrs. of waiting on hold to fix my billing problems. they are the worst telephone co. i have ever had dealings with - not to mention that my basic monthly service is $60.00 plus a month!! And where O where is the highspeed internet we were promised??? Why does my phone service go out for 2 days at a time & takes 2 days more for repair? they NEED to be investigated. We have concluded that the cause for your cracks and tears, anal fissures, are the result of talking to much from your Sss.

I'm not a big fan of Fair Point either, mostly because they don't offer the same payment methods as Verizon did, but I have "basic monthly service" and I don't pay even half of what you mention Alice V. My monthly bill is 25.27 - no call waiting or any of that crap and no long distance carrier. I'm sure they don't publicize whatever plan that is, but I'd be sure to ask for it during one of those hours on hold sessions :( Good luck.

They also read your email. If you use their myfairpoint.net server to send emails (former Verizon customers), type in this word (exactly as it is with the period) anywhere in your email and you will not be able to send the email:

repubblica.it

There are other such disallowed words.

FAIRPOINT,
Please hear me. I have a 91 year old monther living with me. Has first alert due to helth problems. Lost service Friday and today is Monday. It has been a month since we lost service the last time on a weekend.
Life and Death hinge on our phone service. We cannot get cell phone service here.
Our only connection is Wild Blue and you cannot make calls with it.
Please make our service more stable? We need help.

I have had this phone number for twenty years. I have never had long distance service on this phone because I rent this property occasionally. The last bill had a long distance charge from a renter. It said it was "operator assisted" on the bill. What is the point of having no long distance carrier when anyone can call the operator and make a long distance phone call? I had tried that in the past and could not due that. Bottom line is they just got rid of a customer who pays his bill on time every month. So for $3.54 cents they no longer have me for a customer. Very short sighted. NO LONG DISTANCE service means NO LONG DISTANCE CALLS! I was just about to pick a ISP for internet service in Island Pond but that is now done for me. By the way, very unprofessional for the "resolution manager" to hang up on me. Comcast her I come. I just got bundled by Fairpoint.
