BENNINGTON The state has reached a tentative plea agreement with one of two former members of the Bennington Rural Fire Department, whom police said had been involved sexually with a 15-year-old girl, a member of the department's junior firefighter program.

Additional laws will actually help because it will make it easier to pinch some of these perps! They might not get the book thrown at them and be found guilty and get the max on all charges but with more to start with there will be more to end with! It's obvious that we need a few new judges but that will come in time!

Boy are you the grand prize winner today.. My friends and I are sitting here in a bar in Cleveland going over your legal briefs. The one that sticks out most is your point of always blaming the judge, Judge Hayes in particular. Now before we get to intoxicated waiting for the Steeler game to start, just what is your definition, of a district court judge and their job description. Be careful now because the guy to my left is with the Currituck County District Attorneys office in North Carolina. I also might add that he is the reason I changed my major in college to engineering. To many nerds in law and they can't handle liquor. I've got an extra battery for this lap top so take your time....

Damn I love wireless!!!!!!!!!!
Argue with people on the run and I don't have to pack all of those porno magazines in my luggage anymore.

P.S.
We all did come to the conclusion that you watch to much TV, shouldn't sleep with your police scanner between your legs, and NO, reciting episodes of cops does not count towards a law degree, although we all think it's cute the way you use perp's. Damn, I'm getting excited!!!!!!!

If I was on holiday in a bar with my pals the last thing I would do would be to ignore them and blog about something like this! So whats your point and what does it have to do with the topic of this thread anyways?? Thats what I thought! You and George are the same thing but different! When you were posting I was sweating my ass off and having a whole lot more fun! Anyone with a high school education and even you could figure out what I was doing! LOL!! So do you agree or disagree with me about the new laws? I ask because you haven't made a comment about it on this thread yet!

I don't understand the criticism toward Vermont, as if Vermont is permissive of sexual predation. Of course we are not going to let this kind of thing go on when there is something we can do to prevent it.

Obviously, the process in place till now has holes that probably already are closed, as a result of Brooke Bennett's case. The tightening will be reinforced by new legislation.

So, what is the criticism against Vermont? That we have not been tougher sooner?

The sad fact is, up till now, our compassion for all parties, which has included certain perpetrators who have appeared to have shown remorse and to have changed, led Vermont officials to trust sex offenders' apparent change or cure. It's an understandable mistake, but we cannot do that anymore, now that we know cure is impossible to prove, even if it might be possible. Michael Jacques was proven safe, monitored by family members fully aware of his condition, and look what he has done! After that, how can anyone be proven safe?

Sex offenders have to be under state control for the remainder of their lives, once they are discovered. It is not responsible to let these people into the general population.

This here in my opinion is where half the problem lies, UNDER STATE CONTROL.

First time offenders should receive a minimum of 10 to 15 years without parole possibilities, PERIOD. Mandatory counseling should be part of the sentence and before they are released to the public, recommendations from a minimum of 2 to 3 psychiatrist should be submitted to the state. Once released they should be put on electronic monitoring for a period specified by the court.

Second time offenders, life without parole, no questions asked.

I suggest YOU attend that meeting at 3:30 on tuesday 9/16, at the Veterans Home. I'll bet they inact new legislation by the end of the week just to shut you up...

Yes I agree somewhat but, it seems to me that there is a total lack of communication between the state correctional department and law enforcement. By this I mean, some of the responses in these articles would make you believe the local police departments do not even know the whereabouts of some offenders. HOW is this possible, and if so WHY????

As for the prevention aspect of this, any SMART parent knows it starts in the home and is more effective than some total stranger barking out the does and dont's. A stranger trying to teach a small child about sexual preditor's is like a stripper trying to break me from internet porn. Ain't gonna happen....

Go to that meeting tomorrow. Sounds like one hell of a cat fight could emerge.....

I promised I would get back to you on this. I don't have a complete answer for you yet.

However, this new story out of Burlington, regarding the way the Howard Center, might be relevant. The meat of what I am saying is posted at the following link. I need to retain the ability to edit, if anything I have written is not completely accurate. So far as I know, this is all 100% accurate.
