Who do you think would be home while these kids to school these kids? Not their parents they are all working. The county does need schools. My kids graduated from that high school along time ago and we needed a new school then. A computer is not a teacher its a tool for a teacher and kid to use. We dont just need 12 million we need 30 million. Read the paper.

I do not think everyone works and virtual schools are very successful. If 50% of the kids were taught this way think of the savings. Less buses ,less teachers, less cost. The school should not be in the baby sitting business but the learn business. We need to change our system. When I went to school if you talk back to teachers you got a paddle and then a belt when you got home. The teachers, men wore suits and ties ,the ladies wore dresses now they don't, look how they dress today. They talk about a dress code for the kids. You need to start with the teachers first. We need to change the system .

Hey, Truth, who's going to supervise these home schooled kids. Most families have two working parents. You're going to trust your kid to do school work while you go off to your job?

I think you are wrong about both parents working .Grandma or Grandpa are around most kids .This would be for the kids that are able to stay home with a family member ,older brother or sister . You can always find a reason not to make it work but we need to find how to make it work .If you don't like that let the kids go to school and have the teachers stay home and let the virtual school teachers take their place 2 teacher replaces them all .There are things we can do .

So Truth, are you mandating this? You need to join the real world. Sure grandparents don't mind helping out, but on a daily basis? I don't think so.
If you're 55-60 years old do you want to deal with a pre-teen or teenager?
Besides, do you think grandparents don't have a day job as well or under your idea of life just sit around all day?
GET REAL, fella!

Vote no on the bond referendum! No new taxes! They wont raise the real estate tax. They are doing this because if the bond referendum passes the tax increase will come then and bigger than ever. Dont trust these guys! There are two on the board who actually look out for tax payers. The school board has a few qualified people but they are unrealistic in their expectations. They say it costs between 60-80 Million to build a new school. Right now in richmond there is a ten story building being built for a hundred million. I just dont trust the politicans on this one. We need to spend money on people who know construction and can get the most bang for our buck. By using who is there now we will spend way too much. VOTE NO! Show these politicans we are serious about our money.

Okay getting numbers from an architect who has worked on schools, he figured a new elem school would ruin about $15.5M, a new middle school $22-23M, a new HS would be about $28M. Now there variables such as athletic fields, etc, that could change that rate along with cost and location of land.
L & C ran more because of a wetlands issue that was known before planing, but someone insisted on building there, regardless.
Topography has a lot to do with siting I am told.
Who would have guessed?
