Tamaqua cruel district's motto, TAX AND SPEND TAX AND SPEND TAX AND SPEND SOME MORE. Yes people are just screaming because they cannot go to a track meet when it is pouring down rain, yea right big spender (of other peoples money) Larry Wittig. An eight lane track, forcing the moving of the bleachers, another offline expense. Why not just skip building the track and have the team run through the town as soon it will be deserted thanks to Larry Wittig's constant tax increases which are forcing the elderly to lose their life long homes, way to go big spender. This year the tax sale list in this area took over 2 newspaper pages to print. Come on Larry, reassess a few more homes and perhaps you can pave the track in gold and make it as wide as your greed.

i thinks its about time. tamaqua should've done this a while ago. im a tamaqua alumni and a fellow track athlete and it was really hard to run on cinders. maybe it will bring more athletes to the sport by upgrading the facilities. think of the kids and not yourself. maybe it would keep some of the kids occupied instaed of causing trouble. some people are just too greedy.

To the eye, The all weather track is a long time coming necessity to the community. The track team has proven its consistency with the girls 6, SIX straight all league team titles in a row.Last year the Tamaqua ditrict sent 6 boys and 6girls to the State track and field championships at SHIPPENSBURG COLLEGE IN May 2007 which was the MOST by any didtrict in the entire SCHUYLKILL COUNTY!!!!!!! Effectively done at hosted ALL WEATHER TRACKS IN THE COMMUNITY/SCHUYLKILL. Speaking of which, with having an all weather track the district can derive an income by hosting track invitationals to keep the community alive and" healthy "as unlazy people who don't try to negate a LONG TIME NECESSITY.Might I also mention there was a generous $300,000 donation given by SARAH LEE CORPORATION.Obviously you might have another agenda I'm unaware of like whining about something that doesn't have as great a value to the Tamaqua Athletic Programs. I'm sorry, not to knock any other sport but the TRACK TEAMS have PULLED their WEIGHT of importance by being consistent with their devotion to the winning traditions of the sport. We do NOT need a TURF field do to the known: ligament/skin bruising NON-SHOCK ABSORBING problems to all joints that it can occur. Get a life and check out ALL THE FACTS before sounding sooo biased and selfish!!!!!!!

The Eye also complains about tax and spend, The proposed tax increase would cost each household approximately $95.00/year which comes out to about$7.90/month so it's like not that large of a donation overall when you look at the overwelming benefits, both healthwise and community fundraising such as the invitational hosting and cancer relay for life it hosts every year! If our children/teenagers are participating in school athletics/community enrichment projects then they will not be prone to what's on the street corners re:gangs, drugs and vegetating and being inactive!
