Do you think that those receiving welfare, SSI, food stamps and disability payments at taxpayer's expense should take mandatory drug tests to ensure that they are not using the benefits to support their drug or alcohol habit?

only certain cases can work a few hours a week some aren't allowed to work or make any money. some people get a check because they are drunks and dope addicts.the ill effrcts of the life style causes a lot of different illnesses.what I would like to see is people who fake their crazy checks get caught,we have a lot of people playing the system. If you work hard all your life and fall on hard time you get no help of any kind,if you never work they give every thing.

Definitely need a drug test to determine eligibility. I think as long as one draws, they should be pulled in every year randomly and tested, no precript --- no check! If I have to pass a drug test to work somewhere, well by golly why shouldn't they!?!?

I think that is a wonderful idea, because i have heard of some of the dopeys selling there food stamps or trading them for dope. This is a great idea.

I agree 101%. Maybe just maybe this would help the scums from buying drugs and buy food & shoes for their children. They need to limit the women that are on welfare & food stamp to one or two children. They need to have their tubes tied or have it sew up.

I would venture to say, of the 50 yr. old and younger who are on some kind of welfare, e.g., stamps, crazy cks., disability, et cetera, 90% of
these people are on mind altering substances. There motivation is nil for self improvement, ergo
they turn to substance abuse!!

Cut them off the DOLE and MAKE them work for a change.....would certainly turn their life around
for the better!!!!!!!

I have said the same thing many times. If you are a bum or drunk you get to be "independently wealthy" which is what I call it if you dont have to work to support yourself or your family. Unfortunatly I have had to work when my Dr. told me I couldnt because of an injury. But if you have a reputation of working all your life you will not get help when you need it.

I thing everyone on public assistance should take a drug test every month before they get a check or be signed up in a alcohol abuse program to get help or have their check taken away. I know that someone who has an addiction problem spends money on drugs instead of taking care of their children with that money.

YES!!!!!!!!!!

if i am expected to be a drug free hard working employee... Welfare recipients should be drug screened and MONTHLY before they get benefits. This would make alot of ppl either quit using or go back to work.

Isn't it funny that working people who are trying to take care of themselves and their own families are drug screened but if i chose to sit on the couch and let you all pay my way, i could spend your hard earned take dollars on drugs... PITIFUL!!!

I am all for it hope this bill passes. I agree if you apply for a job you have a drug test you fail you don't get the job. why should drawing a check from the tax payers be diferent?

i so agree with you and that is bullsh*t dont you think? everyone that draws ssi checks that are able should be put on a job stuffing envolopes or something like that and earn that money.instead of getting paid for being lazy if they truely need it fine if not make them get out and work.

That's very true, just call the social security office and ask, people who draw disability can work as long as its not full time. You would be shocked at the number of people who do this, there are several who work at places like DQ, McDonalds and other places, I think if you can do that you dont need to be getting a check at all.

I too have worked when the Doctor told me not to. I have thrown away Doctor excuses for days off. The job I have if I don't work I don't get paid. If I don't get paid we don't eat or bills don't get paid. I have also thrown away prescriptions that I felt were additive and I want no part of anything addictive. I felt it was in my best interest not to become an addict.

This might put a stop to these welfare mothers telling their daughters as soon as they get pregnant to go sign up on welfare and let us taxpayers foot the bill.
