Finally!!! Maybe they will find out where all the money went and someone will be prosecuted. It's not fair to the students or employees of both schools too have to change. Just because someone miss used money. Hopefully soon they will find out the truth and those people are held accountable for their actions..

There may be an investigation, but no charges will come of it. That is the way the political system of Wayne County is. These officials need to be held accountable. Local officials in every branch of our local government have misused tax dollars. They are only doing an investigation to complete the required procedures. They will clear those that misused money of any wrong doing. The only time an official is ever held accountable is when they go against the good old boy system. Or when another local official sees them as a threat. Then their private indiscretions are made public in order to destroy their character and cause any statements they may say to be less credible by the public. Even if the state is leading the investigation it is highly likely the officials will purchase their way out of any charges. It would take federal authority coming in and taking charge for anything to be done. It would do the town of Monticello a lot of good for the federal government to come in and audit every branch of our local government. Misused funds can be found in every branch. Not just Monticello school.

Not likely you are not very informed on this matter. This is going to be investigated by the KSP and others. This is getting ready to blow up on a state news format also. Good ole boys got caught this time.

I think there will be 2-4 people prosecuted over this because of the many people that are upset, mad & determined to see that those
people responsible for this travesty to be held accountable, and be punished!!!

People will be losing their jobs. They are furious. I worry about my retirement now. Short a couple of years only. I want them prosecuted. Maybe one will lose some weight in prison!

I agree with "not likely". Just wait until all is said and done. I bet the officials will get away with what they have done. Monticello doesn't have a good track record of holding officials accountable.

The Fry Administration left $1.6 MILLION Dollars in the hands of the Robinson Admin. And then there was the Federal Stimulas monies
that was given. So, there might also be a federal investigation if
the state can prove wrong doings. Might be real hairy situation for
some of the poers-that-be!!!

Have to agree with Wayne Co. and their Supt. Do not approve any type of merger that would place a great burden on the Wayne Co. district with personnel, debt, and buildings. Let the state shut them down or help them survive after investigations are done cause who knows where this will lead?

Monticello Independent School is done. If you think the state is going to come in and save it after all the mess they have found you are nuts. They have already told them to start the talks with Wayne County, thats why the talks are happening now. Do you think for one second that anyone from Monticello would talk with Dalton unless it was the very last choice? That should tell you people something right there.

Now how it all goes down is a different matter. BUT one thing you can rest assured of is this, there will be no more Monticello school.

If the State Police has found reason to open this investigation, then only a fool would think there are no grounds for misappropiation of funds. Too many witnesses & former admin. employees that know the truth in re this matter!! Going to be some fur flying, big time.

There is a lot of hidden agendas I'm guessing with all this money that's been spent without going through proper procurement channels.

All the "save our school" petitions are useless. It's all over, nothing left to save. Don't hurt the kids further by giving them false hopes.

This mess has been building for a long time and over several administrations. With all the state regulations, it is very hard for any small school to generate enough income to run the school and offer all that is required. They have run for a long time on the red line. Staff has to be trimed when the money is not there and that was not done. Money was spent for non esentials and now they are bankrupt. Blame the board for trying to win the next election by not cleaning up the waste and not raising the tax rate to a level that would support the system. It would not be a good idea for those responsible to run for another office. They need to run for the County line.

My comment was not in favor of a tax increase. I simply stated that could have been done. The school is a lost cause. We have to now suck it up and let Wayne County step up to the plate and educate our children. The combination of the two schools could end up being a good thing. I am sure Wayne county did not want this but Wayne County will do all it can to be the best it can be for the students.
