it does make one wonder why the foreclosure? I hear things such as "since they guys did not want to keep their franchise" and work for it the place has run down. the place probably needs a total renovation, and in general if all this is true it will not work to attract customers and those that do will not want to come back if it is not what they want or like in my opinion. I hope that it can remain a motel as we need one in monticello.

Yes, what the heck are you people talking about? Is the Cumberland Inn closed? Tiffany's is gone, no want will stay at that dumpy Monticello Motel, the Anchor has been long gone so what are you talking about... has to be the former Holiday Inn now the Cumberland Inn. Do hope it has not closed!! No place for family to stay when they come visit. Do tell sillies... what are you talking about???

yes it is the cumberland inn that is in foreclosure stage. the bank probably would not want them to close it but rather keep it open for all the dollars they can get. perhaps it could be a money scam but it might be by the Monticello Bank? time will tell if/when they might sell it to someone else. Maybe they just want the motel? who knows!

That would be something for all our famous tourists now wouldn't it? Not one dang place to get a room! Drive 25 miles back up the road to find a motel or just drive on past.. toward civilization.

Too expensive for the quality of the place. A motel needs to stay fully occupied at least in peak seasons. Get rich quick greed, and not putting money back into the upkeep of a place is just bad business. Too new to look so old inside. I never stayed there but have visited family who were staying there. None were very happy with the over priced accommodations. Ammenities were next to nil.

Monticello Bank is allowed to discuss personal information about business, being forclosure in the paper and a sign out front? hmm I smell lawsuit. Are people really allowed to put signs up like that?
Word is that the hotel was going to change what brand it was going to be and Monticello bank led them on to believe that they were going to finance it but wanted to sell the property or take it over and "Rebrand" the hotel for themselves to make money without letting lake cumberland inn know what was going on.

That damn motel was over priced. I called once to get a rate quote, they told me 95.00. My wife called back from a cell phone about a hour later and someone different was working and they told her 125.00 what a rip off. But then again its just a sign of our mayor and judge. More business leaving. Cant wait till catron gets back in office. Maybe our town will grow!!

Doesn't banks usually sell loans? Especially when they might suspect they might lose money, conspircy, or not? I know several people who had loans there and it was sold to on outside company. Apparently there might be more money to be made.... indeed time will tell the truth....
