There are people who have worked their whole lives and now cant work, thats different, but people who have lived off government assistance their whole life or work for a month or two and quit are pathetic human beings. How can they have any respect for themselves. There are people who are truly disable and go to work five days a week, even in a wheel chair.
That's great for those who have a desk job and can sit in their chair all day. Most laborers cannot do that tho. They stand on their feet 8-10 hours a day. You can't just be lazy to draw undeserved assistance. You must also be a liar, a cheat and a thief. Welfare does not just take your word for it. Your case is checked out pretty thoroughly . You have to produce statements of income, bills, disability etc. Therefore people have found out how to hide things from them in order to draw. They pay a friend to sign statements saying they know they are telling the truth. I knew a couple who lived in a nice Apt. together, yet turned in an old shack and a tiny trailer as their separate addresses to get food stamps. Both work at cash only jobs. BTW I laughed so hard when they got caught for gov. fraud. It was a big mistake when welfare workers stopped doing surprise visits to these addresses. Public assistance is for those who need help for a valid reason. Worst case is when they bring unwanted babies into the mix just to get the money, food stamps and medical cards. If you need it, go apply for it. If you worked.. you paid it forward. You are right they have no respect for themselves or for the taxpayers who provides it all for them. I've seen many honest hard working people who needed the help get it. There's no shame in hitting hard times. The shame lies on the fraud experts. This fraud is what Romney is getting at and wants stopped, not for the deserving people.

Well if my calculation is anywhere near correct, and Burger King is your only income with kids..um.. are you saying you don't get assistance of some sort? Medical cards and such? I pretty much know what BK pays. I know they offered to hire a lot of welfare recipients. You can't raise a family on what BK pays alone. There's no way unless you live at your parents or something. Don't be the pot calling the kettle black.

First half, correct.

Second half, stupid.

Governor Romney is the worst sort of silver spoon politician. You see, most of those guys recognize that they did nothing for their wealth. Romney ACTUALLY BELIEVES that he did it all on his own. I'm not making this up. If you don't see how this is an issue, I'm not shocked.

Almost everyone in your town is poor by any standard other than compared to their neighbor. 70% of households don't make $40k gross. And that's because they are lazy? I think you may need to think a little harder about the reasons that people are poor.

While you're at it, ask yourself why the Republican candidate for president has made more money since you posted this than 1/2 the households in Monticello will in the month of October. Applying your logic, it's because he works so much harder. Probably about 683 times as hard.

Some people who draw welfare, SSI, or food stamps have to. My aunt worked for almost 30 years and they laid her off, she couldn't take care of her children so she draws welfare. I draw SSI where my dad got killed in a car accident because a drunk man hit him head on. Plus, here recently we had to sign up on food stamps. In case no one noticing, yes theyre are some sorry bums out there, but not everyone is. Some have good reasons to draw, ESPECIALLY since there aren't many jobs around here!!

I would guess that around 75% of Wayne Co. is on some form of government assistance. So therefore only 25% of Wayne Co. is healthy enough to work. Somebody needs to call the EPA cause there has got to be something in the water to cause all these very ill people. No, the truth is this county is full of lazy people that can not pass a drug test. Its easy to lay around draw a check. What is going to happen when the 25% that work get sick and dies. Who will keep up the other 75%?

Have you been unable to work or unwilling? The Army is always hiring... I joined the Army 5 years ago when the economy went to shit and have never regretted the decision because of what it provides for my family.

Some people are poor by choice. They have no ambition and are okay with the way they live. A lot of people who draw social security disability teach their kids the easy way of life.

There are various individuals in Wayne county who can't hold a job. Rather get foodstamps than pay for their own dam food.
