Yea go to LSU and wait with the masses of others who should have gone to their doctors office or a quick care clinic for their "emergency" sore throat, rash or toe pain at 3 AM. I wish you and others will stop clogging up the local healthcare system so real sick people can get seen faster.

Rude ass people they do not care about you this place sucks the nurses do not care neither the doctors i go to shreveport forget this hospital go somewhere else besides here.
I suggest that if you have ligitimate complaint don't hesitate to call administration. You may not know that the top management staff have changed recently. They are CLOSELY reviewing ER issues esp. employee attitudes. Please give specifics and your complaint WILL be investigated. They don't play!!! The ER has to change or we will lose our hospital. We can say that we will go to shreveport or Alex. but when it's life and death Natchitoches hs to be used to save a life. And by the way, many lives have been saved there. SDo let's pull together as a community and all do our part to improve.

I have to echo that if you have a legitimate complaint and report it to the hospital or more appropriately ER administration. And on dying, check the stats on deaths in the big city ER, there are many times that God puts his hand a persons shoulder and says come with me, and no amount of CPR, emergency drugs or electric shocks can bring them back. It's a fact of life. I've also witnessed people brought back to life at NRMC and it is an amazing thing to witness. These people may go onto a larger facility when stable and have no real idea of all the different acts performed by many team members all to keek them alive. It is awesome to witness and it happens in the larger hospitals and even right here in Natchitoches.

I have been a patient at NRMC several times. Once was an emergency trip by ambulance. While I was transported to Shreveport later,I recieved excellent, lifesaving care here. I've even had surgery at NRMC. We have excellent Drs.and nurses here. That said,I will agree the OR is always full and the staff stressed out. Some folks go there when they have no real emergency. Something needs to be done about this problem. Just my opinion.

Excellent point, here is a little project next time anyone is waiting in the ER lobby or in a room, walk around and ask all the other people what they are there for, then if they say they have some type of problem that they could have gone to their doctors office for ask why they chose to bog down the flow in the ER rather than go to their doctor for the problem they have been having for the last few days, 2 weeks or even a year or so.

What would really help if they would eleminate all but two people with the patient. It is crazy to have 3 - 10 people with ONE person waiting in the emergency room and folks this happens a lot. I recently had a sonogram and I could never have asked for a better person than the lady that administered the sonogram. Her initials are P. S. and she was wonderful.
I have a great deal of respect for the service at the NPH.

You are right. I understand family wanting to be there in an emergency, but not 4 or 5 kids also. Use common sense and tact. Let someone else keep the kids,it's no place for them to be.

EMERGENCY ROOM, not I need a work excuse room, if you arnt, bleeding profusly, short of breath, or involved in an accident, go see your regular doctor. Quit jamming the emergency room with your non-sense, oh and pay your bill cause obahma is going to cut your free care off very soon. If you have enough energy to get on yor computer and gripe, you dont need an ER.

If what you say is true then why do most people go to Shreveport or Alexandria if they have something life-threatening happens to them.

I have a friend who had to go to Alexandria for an MRI of all things.

They have MRI in Natchitoches so who knows why they went out of town, not sure how bright your friends are, ask them. Not sure if cost is comparable or maybe cheaper here or there. I agree that if a person has a condition that requires specialized physician or special diagnostic testing that natchitoches doesn't have then they belong elsewhere where the can receive the care they need. Now, when someone suddenly develops a "life threatening" condition/injury should they be loaded into the family station wagon and hit I-49 or end up in the local ER where their condition can be stabilized for safe and more appropriate transportation to the facility that they need to be at.

I would think that you could get an MRI In natchitoches. I know you can get
MRI 's in many.
A lot of the people in the Er in natchitoches are druggers. They are in there trying to get pills. They wait around for hours to convince the dr they need pain pills.
I've seen them in there and heard what they are talking about

I understand what you mean, however, after their condition is stabilized many people are transferred to Shreveport or Alexandria.
Why is this true? Why can't Natchitoches have a hospital that treats conditions whereas people don't have to be transferred to larger cities for treatment?
