Why isn't there any places to gamble in Natchitoches? I have been here a week and I am BORED. This place has nothing to do, and you all want people to retire here?

Why doesn't this town have a casino like on the river like Shreveport does?

Perhaps it's cuz we don't have an actual RIVER that runs through town; it's a big ole turd pond

We don't need gambling here. You can enjoy the downtown area, the university has sports, symphony, the theater. There is boating on Cane River or Sibley Lake, fishing, golfing, and tennis available here. Shreveport is 70 miles away with plenty of shopping, and gambling.
Why not keep some of the money here in town. Let our retailers make a percentage of the gambling take. The Baptist invented the drive thru liquor store and paper bags but voted out gambling.

It can be addicting and ruin lives. It serves no useful purpose.

well the good god fearing poeple came out of the woods years ago and voted agains video poker, which was very prominent in this town.when then gov foster had everybody in the good state vote for or agains video poker.natchitoches lost all theit video poker casinos by a 35 vote.i was as shocked as most poeple that this did realy happen.i dont care whater or not you gamble.its not my job to tell people what they can or cannot do.i play the lottery and frankly iam still p[laying since i havent ,like million other s ,won anything i could brag about
.so with the gambling renue being lost.the city lost out quite a bit, cause all these parlors did move from natchitoches parish to red river parish.thats where everybody goes now and we lost the money/spo all these so called anti gambling god fearing people accomlished is absolutely nothing but shooting themselves in the foot by having to drive on inadiquated country and city roads l
hope this answer some of your question

Lee Posey, Wayne , Mickey Dove, Van Kyzer had high stakes poker games weekly They also run books for sport betting. They did not want video poker because they were not getting their cut.

Here in Natchitoches St. Anthony's Church has bingo on Tuesday evenings and the Knights of Columbus has it on Wednesday evenings along with one Sunday afternoon a month. These bingo games have been around for many years.
