District 308 Adopts 2012 Tentative Levy with 4.9 Percent Increase
The Oswego District 308 school board voted 6-0 in favor of adopting the 2012 tentative levy with a 4.98 percent increase.

Remember, guys, I told you that the only affective way to lower your property taxes was to lower your assessment more than that which the township was offering. Prime example here. School Board raises levy instead of reducing it. Schools are 70% of the tax bill. Any savings you might have received by the automatic drop in assessed values has been eaten up by the 5% levy increase.
The window to protest your assessment has closed. You are stuck with another high property tax bill for 2012 collectable in 2013.
