The city is in serious trouble due to the police pension fund which is millions of dollars underfunded. They have to do something seeing as they refused to back legislation to correct the underlying problem.

The reason the current city council voted agaist putting the advisory referendum for Police Pensions is Yorkville Police Pension is well funded.

I don't know where Voice of the Minority is getting his Police Pension Info. Yorkville's City Police Pension is funded well and is actuarily very sound. This was one of the few financial responsibility's that past city administrations took seriously and got right.

The sky is not falling in Yorkville, but past Agressive Growth Policies now have to be paid for for sewer and water pipe/water towers in the ground. Growth never did and never will pay its own way.

The last actuarial review from 2009 presented to the pension board on 5-10-10[http://www.yorkville.i l.us/documents/PolicePensionpa cket5-10-10.pdf page 10 of the pdf] indicates that the Pension is unfunded to the tune of $5,512,957. It is only about 1/3 funded. The city council shorted the pension fund this year again. The actuary said $481,000.[pg 9 of the pdf file] The city only levied $375,000.

Since when is 1/3 well funded?
