Most large metropolitian areas already have 10 digit dialing for many years now. Its not something the phone company is doing to make your life difficult. There is just so many exchanges in each area and they run out eventually as more numbers are added. The 10 digit calling is just that progression to allow you to call someone in your metro area.

I think they need to leave the area codes alone and leave them as they are. All the phone companies are wanting is more money for local calls...just like they want money for long distance.

I think this is hooey! Why isn't this being advertised? Luckely, This news article was sent to me via email by a coworker who continuously surfs the internet. I receive a phone bill why can't this be printed on the outside of the envelope? You can say what you will but I don't believe there won't be a long distance charge once the new area code is in place.

Change the cell numbers to 938 instead of the land lines.
