this company and their illegal practices has to be told on to anyone who will listen. like the person said before shout it from the rooftops. i am hopefully going to learn how to get it on espn. they have to be brought to thier knees for how they treat people. i am going to do it. i just need anyone who will want to back up thier stories on national news. i can understand some people just come on here to vent and go away. but for those of you who want to get your stories out, send me a email. and i will tell you where you can go to do it. i will stand up before the world and tell it all. it has been two and half years since i was wrongfully fired, proved it to them and ask for my job back. they problably knew better not to give it back to me. they took something from me that is very important to me and i want it back. and i mean to get it back if i have to force it back to me. dg does not like media and publicity. you hit them where it will hurt. i have tried to let this go but likei said they took something from me and i mean to get it back. we need more stories. and people to back them up with. media coverage is what is needed and i am going to do it somehow. anybody that thinks the same way i do send me a email [email protected] biting back will hurt. that last lawsuit that was won bet that bit hard. those were very brave women. thank you wanda womack and any female manager still working there should thank her also. and the other brave women that were on it too. yes patrick hayes law firm is accepting names for injured workers.
If the story ever runs in the Huffington post, I was hopeing that would bring us some national attention and get it on a major news network. But we need NUMBERS of people out there with the simalar stories to be able to have this get done. I am always willing to do whatever has to be done. I am not hiding or keeping quiet for the fear of it ruining my personal workmans comp. case. I told Dave to put my name in big bold letters when it does run. We have to be strong and stand up for ourselves or quit ehinning about it.

I just sent the below email to the few corporate email addresses that I could fine online - doubt it will do any good but wanted this documented online somewhere - for when it happens again.
.
.
I am writing about DG store located at (address removed for this post) Ga.
A month or so ago, I walked in this store and the cashier, who was the only employee on duty and present, was on the floor on his back between the two registers, in full cardiac arrest.

I wanted to ask your company to please schedule more than one person on duty due to the very present risk that an employee can suffer a medical emergency, or any other store emergency could arise. Thank Jesus above that there were customers in this store that particular day - or this employee would be dead today. One of the customers, a woman, performed CPR until the paramedics could get there.

A few days later, I walked in this same store and observed a lone female employee at the cash register - with no other employees present in the store.

This is a dangerous policy - not only for the employees but for your store(s) as well.

I ask that you guys please consider this store's horrific incident involving this employee (George) who, by the grace of God, was able to be saved. He has since had open heart surgery and is presently recovering at home.

Have you guys even sent him a card?

Thank you -

@dgcustomer:

unfortunately this is the position that dollar general puts its employees in everyday and all this means is big money to the district manager and above to the president rick drielling. could you email the store location and possbile store number. i am going to share you email on facebook. payroll budget cuts are the easiest budget to be cut and the most profits to be made. i am absolutely horrified that this person was in such a state and not one dg employee there to help. where was the manager of this store. when i was manager i worked 60-90 hours a week to make sure no one was alone. well except for me. i was there morning and after hours working to keep the workload done. this kind of problem is not geographical. also could i have your permision to send this to a reporter that is still hopefully going to publish a story about the inside storie of employees. my thought and prayer are with the employee and his family. see people, instead of complaining and not doing what is needed which is to speak up and let the world know what goes on in these stores, it is only letting things get worse. we need to step up like deh1064 said. please email me and i will send your stories forward. you dont even have to say your name. just the story. [email protected] thanks

I just want to know if this happens in all dollar general stores. Employees clock out then are expected to work off the clock.

If you are any type of management that punches the time clock , yes. However , they, DG are breaking their own rule of NOT working off the clock. I had a problem with this and my DM. I instructed my asst. and key holders NOT to clock out IF there was no one there to cover them so they could leave the buliding. IF you clock out, you should be allowed to do anything on your own time. I took this to corporate, I think, human resourses and I was right. I told my DM and he said he would check also. We never had another question about it. working off the clock is against the 'rule' at DG and also against working laws in most states.

@ dll. this is a common problem within all dollar general stores. because of the payroll budget being so low the associates have no choice when it comes to customer service. it happens mostly to assistant managers and third keys. when they go on break and it is on a third key for example. and the assocaite has to call for back up or needs a pickup or whatever is needed, it is policy for them to clock back in and then clock back out for the rest of thier break. if they keep getting called back in, tht break will run into problems such as the nightly assigned work and recovery will not get done. but since dollar turnes thier back on things or issues such as this, they only use thier policies and procedures when it will benefit only them. like if they want to fire you they can look back and find some little policy you done a year ago and use that against you. i was fired for something that was said i did nine months prior. i showed evidence that i did not do this. do you think they let me have my job back. nope. i now have ptsd from working there and what happened to me. my advice go find something else to work at and dont be brought down to thier level. here hoping you have a good manager and district manager. you may be allright good luck

Ok I don't know much about law but I was working at Dollar General In West Union, WV and on the last day I worked I was two hundred short in the drawer. They already checked the cameras and confirmed I didn't steal the money. They checked the logs and they said there was nothing wrong there. They also said my pick ups were good. Well they said they would get a hold of me to let me know what was going on. well its been about two months and I had to call their main office and they told me I was terminated and they already hired someone to replace me without even letting me know I was fired. I was wondering if I had grounds to sue. I am very upset about this whole situation and would like some advice. Help me lol

i dont know about the laws in wv i live in va. but to dollar general it will not matter. if you are being fired the manager must have you clocked in and tell you why and fill out the exit interview. but it dont go that way. you were not two hundred short. did you count your drawer at the beginning of your shift? was it short? did anyone else run your register in your numbers. to be openly honest, they just didnt like you or the way you worked or was jealous in some way, and that was thier way of getting rid of you. trust me there is so many wrong doings by stupid managers who dont know what they are doing or the laws that apply to thier state. or it is the company. they just look away and dont really care. you do have dispute resolution get that number and make a complaint against the manager of your store. maybe someone will know what they are doing and put you back in there or as the ususal goes, you are just a number that can be replaced with someone else. that is dg way. does wv have a legal aid society> their lawyers dont charge any one they help. call them and see what they say. good luck you probably be better off getting you a job at another place. seems to me they have a manager there who dont know anything. and is as evil as the rest of the compnay. read all these post and you will see how bad they can really let things go and do so wrong and get by with it. good luck

I have been trying to get a job for this company for over a year and a half now. HR calls me telling me im a perfect fit and I do a phone interview, then store interview, and then im blown off. Then again I apply and HR calls me again this time I tell her I was blown off and she tell me shes sorry thatll never happen again that I slipped through the cracks. Im a hard worker who wants to work and support my family, no criminal history, nothing. So again phone interview and then a distric manager calls for interview. And once again, blown off. This is how people get treated who shop at the store and want to work for them and possibly work my way up the ladder? Someone help!

I just want my story to be heard and a little advice. I have worked for dg for 20 years. The dm called my store on Sat. afternoon and asked for me I was gone to bank and lunch. I gave my keys to my back-up key carrier, who wasn't anymore a key carrier because of cutting her hours and took her insurance and her pay away. I came back and was told to call him immediately. I called and he said he wanted me and my two employees in the store on Monday morning. One of the girls couldn't make it because of commitments so he talked to me and the other employee said he was taken our statements and sending them in. He waited a week then come back in and said I was fired after 20 years of service. I lost my husband three years ago and didn't get a card, a sorry or kiss my butt. But my pepsi guys showed up at funeral home and sent a plant! That tells you whose loyal and whose not!!! What a company to work for I think not!!! I also had an ex-employee who has wanted my job since she worked for me come in my store and threaten me. I called dm and was advised I could not ban her because she new all the ins and outs of dg and didn't want me to "OPEN THAT CAN OF WORMS"! I have real faith in the dms and dollar general really got your back. I call that an unsafe work environment. Also 4-5 days later my car was hit in parking lot and nobody seems to know how that happened and nothing was done about it! I could go on and on cause you see I have gave half my life up for this piece of shit company!! Now I am unemployed no insurance with 20 years of my life and my husband gone!!! Need a little info I will probably have to fight them just to get unemployment of which I have never applied for in my life. I do have evidence of my threats on tape and police reports to back it up. Who do I talk to about this? Oh forgot to mention that the ex-employee of mine had the same dm as I have had for past 3 years. what a coincidence? I've had more write-ups in last 3 years than I've had in 17. Just wanting to gain a little leverage and knowledge. Hopeing4Karma

All I can say at this point is your in for a long hard fight. Contact a labor attorney and try to get them to tke your case. If you arein a 'at will State'like I am,Michigan, it'snearlyimpossibe todoanything about it. Also if your Govenor is a republican, you have very little chance getting anywhere. replublican govenors are for the Companys, they make it impossible to have any kind of case against them. They are all for bringing business to that state.
I have been fighting DG for 18months and I am no closer to a settlement that I was the day they fired me. I did get unemployment, took 3 months and they tried everything in the book to stop it. Including making a false alligation that I worked for some pharmacy in another state. Wish I had better news for you, but they are huge and have all the 444 and timein the world to put the screws to ya.

hopeing4krama.
i am a direct result of this company. i am so sorry for your situation. i thank god i only wasted three years of my life and time and family for them. so this is what i did and i got my unemployment. when i first signed up in state of va which is a commonwealth state and a at will work state. i got turned down right away. needless to say i ended up in a mental nervoucs breakdown wound up in the hospital. in there i found the help i needed. they advised me i was done a great injustice and they told me to get a lawyer from legal aid. i called and got one based on the fact i had no income. it took four months and my evidence and you have to ask for a in person interview with your attorney, of course the attorney will take over and do what has to be done for you. i drove two hours with the knowledge that they could only say no and i had nothing left to lose. true to dg using thier own policies and procedures to thier own benefit when and where they want to use them, i used them against them. district managers for dg are not always trained right and they dont know all the rules. when you do a in person interview you will recieve your work record which can help alot. you will be able to review them and see what has been done or said abou t you. the appeals examiner viewed the statements and evidence and listened to the dm side and my attorney questioned her. the next day i got a call and my attorney was excited and said we won!. no loss of money was involved. so you must use those policies and procedures to your own advantage just like they do. they have got so good at doing injustice to thier employees and hiring in new managers with no experience so they can continue to do so is a everyday occurence.@jason, god had been with you. thank him for not getting the job. you would be setting yourself up for failure and being unemployed within time. you are willing to work and do right and that is your problem why you are not getting the job. they dont want people like you. they want uneducated people who can inflict misery upon others with out a single thought. just thank god you are not in this womans place who spent 20 years of her life working every holdiday, missing quality family time, losing her husband which i bet she didnt get enough time to grieve, i assume that from my experinece, and load of work and no hours or employees to do the job, messing up inventories and customer service surveys so you cannot get your bonus you earned and much much more horrible offense. all you have to do is read all the post on hear and just imagine all the things people have not reported. i have been in touch with huffington post but not getting answers and so i dont thing there will be a story. i may be suprised and its not because of th lack of trying very hard to get the story and others storys out there.

For those of you who still work for Dollar General, I thought I should let you know that they have RM's, DM's, and people from Risk Management check these sights for disgruntled employees. I know this because I managed a store in Nebraska and was confronted by my DM about a member of my staff who had posted a complaint on this site about DG (while he was still working at DG). My DM told me I had to fire the employee because of the post. When I asked my DM how Dollar General had become aware of the post my DM replied that there are members of Risk Management whose job is solely to check the internet for anything negative regarding Dollar General, particularly posts from employees. My DM also said HE was expected to do Google searches for local complaints and check employees Facebook pages for anything anti-DG.
I am in the middle of a lawsuit with DG righy now. Not long ago I did a deposition with their Attorneys. I was asked several times if I was familar with this site. I told them yes. I was asked if i had ever posted on this site. I told them yes. I was asked if I had ever recommended that someone else sue DG. I said YES. So, Someone from DG is definitialy looking at this site. Which is okay with me. I didn't even care if they knew it was me.(which they told me they were aware it was me) I was also informed at this time, that DG's policies were confidential. I don't work for DG any more and I can easily say that I will use their own policies against them to the fullest extent whenever possible. And I highly recommend that Anyone who reads this does so also. I wasn't intimidated then nor I am intimidated now. They are big bullies who like to push their weight around. They can afford to drag out lawsuits thinking that we can't. Just hang in there. Their day will come. Also it is against Co.policy to leave cashiers alone in stores. It is also against the LAW to not allow an employee to leave the premesis if they are off the clock. DG can't have it both ways. God willing we will prevail against this worthless company.

As I read through these posts it helps to know I wad not alone in what I went thorugh. I eventually quit DG due to the overworked and stressfull days...hours being cut, open to close several days a week, early days and late nights on truck days. Was told about 4 months or so into being a store mgr. that my pay was incorrect, it was changed but retro paid. Had good customer services numbers, sales and p&l but yet always repremanded and cut more and more hours. I would love to know what can be done. Someone who can actually get something accomplished and wants information as to what I know please contact me at [email protected]

My daughter was employed with Dollar Gerenal in Ar. I wanted her to move home so I purchased a home for and she transferred to Sulligent , Al. When she got her there were two or three stores near by that wanted her to work for them. She choose the one here in Sulligent. After about three months the district manager, wanted her to take the class and be a store manager, so she did . There was all ready s store manager at the store so for a month or so they both were managers. The one manager went on leave for something and the next thing that was said . Someone call in and said the store was dirty. My daughter worked till 12:00 pm with two other employer cleaning and straighting the store up. The next day the one who took leave came in with a lady and was so jeolious that she called n and said my daughter had changed the schedule and she did but not for more money just to where is was the one to stock. They never gave my daughter a chance to clear her name . They took the other girl side and said it was against policy for her to do that and slso got in trouble for doing an exchange for the other manager, said it was fraudulent . No one got fired but my daughter. There are some that tske money at night shift and put it back the next day there is two ov them that just walks around and does nothing. I feel that was harassment and unfair what can she do
