I lived in monterey for over 25 years and moved away. I get on here and read ll this hate. When I grew up in Monterey we was all tight! All brothers and sisters. We stood up for each other and had pride in being from Monterey. It was nothing to go into town and see 50 friends. Now it seems everyone hates each other?? I love Monterey and was proud of the little poor town I was from.

Your a very wise man Pops. Dirty politics, revenge and the desire for power all being aired on topix. Along with the attempt to makes a mountain out of a mole hill on News Channel 5 has done much so much damage to Monterey it will take years to get back to normal if ever. So much hatred and ill feelings because of all this mudslinging and trashing. It is so sad how a few people can do so much damage to a town. Was it really worth it people?

I think these problems have been going on for a long time, with topix more people are finding out things they were not aware of. Topix could be a good thing if used to help solve problem, instead of attacking others just because you didn't get your way.

I believe you are exactly right. With the internet AND topix the average person can know a LOT more than in the past about just what is going on behind the scenes. We all know what politics has been like for years up here. It's about time those that care can PERHAPS make a few changes. There will always be abuses of power. Power corrupts, eventually, they say. Sooner or later the old power groups break down as new ones come in and aren't bound by the concept of being "beholden" for past favors. That's the way it is EVERWHERE.
It's no secret, either, that a person can stage their own discussion and agree or disagree with themselves here on topix. I don't think people are as in the dark as they used to be about such political games. Whatever...sooner or later the truth will "out" so no one who is standing in the truth needs to fuss and bother about it, while it is evolving do they?

A lot has hapened in the last 25 yrs! For one major thing, the drug war. Many famlies have been broken and made poor by drug adictions and a few familes have been made richer by it. Thats hard to take for some up here who have a famely one broken by it and see the guy who sold it to them get rich and live real good from it. Good we can tell about it somhow.

I've always heard of the drug wars and the tragic it wrecked amongst families, looking back could any of this have been prevented, in your opinion. I have had family members involved in drugs, not as bad as some but still it was destructive and painful.

The older people of the town don't want to see the younger folks prosper and do good! They want to run the town and do things thwit way to help themselves instead of everyone as a whole!

Yeah Drugs have ruint a lot of lifes. ThE PILL PUSHERS and METH HEADS should all be run outa town. It's a shame . How could any person in Monterey sale a Man or Women these drugs knowing they have kids at home ,or Might even know there family and feel good about them selfs? What kinda of low life would even think about pushing meth or Roxys on anyone who has never used ? I'll bet if you looked around and did some hard looking they would only be about 10 to 15 bad apples that has caused the whole bushel to go bad!
(Drugs are an easy way to hide from real life)

news channel 5 has nothing to do with the damage done to monterey.all they did was ask a few very simple questions of some people who had no resonable answers.policing for profit is no mole hill, i'd say closer to a mountain. i for one do not like the idea of being stopped and searched by someone who i know to be taking property an keeping it for their own personal use. if you think for one min that that can't happen in your town you need to watch more news. just in recent weeks its been on channel 4,5 and 2 about pikeville, chattanooga, copperto wn, humphreys county and many more.the investigation by phil williams convinced many more people than not that that's what is going on in monterey. you or anyone else will never convince me otherwise.

Most had to leave, no jobs, and the jobs that were there, paid minimum wage. Back in the day people would flock back to Monterey to retire, no more. Monterey is full of yankees and Mexicans, who wants to look at that on a daily basis? Not me! I would rather be where the bright lights shine. I love Monterey but nothing there anymore.

I remember people did have to leave to find work, it was very depressing, lots of people didn't mind working for mininum wage at least you had a job. Where did you move to? most anywhere you live there are people of different races. I moved back because this is my home, not everything is perfect nor will ever be. Don't be hatin'

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Gemini

Today's Full Moon, a Lunar Eclipse, will have a big impact on your relationships during the next few months, so stand by. If the cracks have been starting to show in a partnership, this could be when they turn into major fault lines that demand action. Can they be repaired or do they spell the end of the line? It may feel like a crisis but that doesn't mean it really is one, so don't over-react.
