By MARY JO DENTON HERALD-CITIZEN Staff MONTEREY -- At least 22 of the 30 persons indicted by the Putnam grand jury on various drug offenses, mostly involving prescription pills, were rounded up in Monterey yesterday. Some were arrested at home, some at work, and others in other places. Some were found to have illegal drugs at the time of arrest. All are accused of selling drugs to undercover officers posing as drug users in an investigation that began last summer and continued until recently. The TBI-led investigation was financed out of the Putnam Sheriff's Department's Drug Fund, where cash seized in illegal drug cases is kept, and it was spearheaded by TBI Agent Eddie Farris, but several other law enforcers from other agencies joined Putnam deputies and TBI agents for the roundup yesterday. Sheriff David Andrews said he and the TBI began to receive complaints about illegal sale of pills in the Monterey area last summer and said informants were very specific "about what was going on up there." The sheriff and the TBI collaborated in the investigation. Those arrested so far are as follows:* Myra Bilbrey, 51, of Arrowhead Dr., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Michael Jack Carlson, 34, of Buckner Road, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of morphine.* Ricky Farris Cook, 23, of Hampton Lane, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of dihydrocodeine.* Ricky Darrell Cook, 50, of Hampton Lane, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Jimmy Cook, 50, of Standing Stone Drive, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Hydrocodone.* Marilyn Cook, 27, of E. 18th St., Cookeville, charged with sale and delivery of buprenorphine.* Tasha Cook, 25, of Hampton Lane, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of morphine.* Thomas Cook, 27, of Roger Norrod Lane, Crawford, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Nicki Cook, 21, of Hampton Lane, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Danny Coleman, 42, of Johnson Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of dihydrocodeine.* Ralph Terry Cravens, 38, of Cravenstown Road, Wilder, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Amanda Ferry, 28, of W. Hoyt Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone; also charged with simple possession of drugs at the time of arrest.* Bradley Galo, 29, of E. Hoyt Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone; also charged with possession of a controlled substance at the time of arrest.* Tracy Hyso, 24, of E. Hoyt Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Jeffery Payton, 36, of Standing Stone Dr., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Matthew Redden, 33, of N. Elm St., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of buprenorphine; also charged with fraudulently obtaining TennCare benefits.* Destiny Tirey, 20, of S. Poplar Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Danny Walker, 48, of Standing Stone Dr., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Randall Scott Walker, 41, of W. Hoyt Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of dihydrocodeine.* Joshua Warden, 26, of E. Railroad Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone and also with fraudulently obtaining TennCare benefits, as well as with possession of a controlled substance at the time of arrest.* Kathleen Webb, 23, of Standing Stone Ave., Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of Oxycodone.* Stephanie Williams, 32, of Buckner Road, Monterey, charged with sale and delivery of morphine.

I dont think the problem is going to go away until the feds come in and stop the informants from getting away with using, selling, and abusing drugs and tenncare. There are several people in this town that are overlooked because they turn everyone else in. The paper said the investigation started in August and if you will notice the CIndy Clemons thread about working for the law started in September. It is a known fact that several of the ones arrested frolic right there at her mothers house! I just dont think the system is working when you let a handful of people (some of the biggest perscription drug dealers)in town get by with it. The DA needs to investigate this!

I am with you on this one Sister! Her and her Mother dearest are untouchable. Its sad when the sick people in our Country can't get medical needs because of these losers that abuse the system. Its a joke. The ones they got the other day was just a drop in the bucket and not going to help get this junk off our streets! Its sad that you can tattle on others and keep on doing the deed all you want.

You have to have informants to mix with the makers/sellers of drugs. They trust people they know. A stranger trying to buy drugs from them would alert them. Friends and family will tell on you quicker than a stranger, just notice that sometime.

thats crazy, if they are informants, then TENNCARE doesnt need to paying for the drugs and the police need to monitor the money they are making from selling their meds! Read cindys last post,"Mom taught me well"! Her whole family, sister, mom, aunts, cousins and all make a very good living by selling their drugs!Lets just all quit our jobs, befriend the dealers, and be informamts then we wont have to work either to get our bills paid.oh, but on second thought, when the police are through with SINDEE, they will bust her A$$ as well

Why are so many young people in Monterey on Medicare and Tenn Care? I see the medicare patients run all over town all day but are unable to go to work. Seems half of Monterey is "disabled" and draws a check. Must be a family tradition.

Gonna get worse...and..just what jobs are you talking about for them to run out and get? As more jobs leave, and more are leaving, it will get worse. This country brought it on its self...first, they took God out of our schools, now hes replaced with guns, theres no work, no money, nothing in this town for any young person...They Cant fish or hunt..fishing licens cost $28, you have to know sombody who has land before you hunt, not to mention what the licens for that cost a fortune...this is, and always was a simple town with most the people poor and below poverty level.
I was born here, my Grandfathers ran some of the coal mines in this part of the country, and this place is what i call home, but i dont see this problem being fixed with thier "Drug Round-up" every few years..the problem is way deeper, and thier solution is gonna cause things to snowball
Like to hear the thought from some of you who realy can see, who realy know, whats going on..how would you fix it??? these people that are lost would sure love a little hope.

Please all you people on Medicare and Tenn Care If you don't need the medicine please don't get it just because it's free. nothing is free. It comes with a price. Addiction will make you miserable and after awhile even if you could work you will no longer want to. And it makes me have to pay more for mine and my children's medicine when I really need it. Just because a Doctor gives you a script you don't have to get it filled unless you really really need it. You may be responsible for others doing without their medicine cause they are so high they cant pay. the free medicines for you are costing someone else who really needs them.

xxx wants to know how to fix the problem .Jesus. people who call themselves Christians need to represent Jesus. HE saves, heals, and delivers. HE is the answer to all these problems, but these folks out on all these drugs, and selling need to see it in the hearts and lives of those in church. They need to be held responsible.Pain pills killed alot of people around our area lately. How many of these busted sold the junk to them? They convince themselves they're good people, but that is not good.Good is clean living, working, not putting children in danger. If people know you have pain pills, even if you sell your Dope one time, word gets around, and some druggie could bust in on the family to go after a few pills. People have died for less. I pray these could feel the Love of CHRIST just once, and they would never go back.

OK Mike, here's a good question for you. We constantly have these people who come into our place of business preaching to us. They have to preach the whole bible to us. They even tell us, I had to stop on my way home because God told me to tell you this. I myself think it's nothing but a story book to confuse ones mind. I don't want to be too rude,i could lose my job, but how can I tell these people in a nice way, NOT TO PREACH TO ME. what the hell gives them the right to go around preaching to people? If i want to be preached to I'll go to church. You would be the person to ask. I know this isn't the right thread for it, but who gives a didly squat.,, tell me what to tell them mikey !!

you will just have to tell them you are not interested in theyre views on religion and you would appreciate it if they wouldnt come in and preach to you. it is a hard thing to do sometimes, but it is the only way to let them know that what they are doing is wrong. and at the same time keeping yourself in the process. say it politely and say it like you mean it. if they respect you as a human being they will come to theyre senses and realize what they are doing is wrong. nobody has the right to push themselves on others. and if they do you shouldnt feel guilty for saying no. sounds alot like rape doesnt it? lol. think for yourself
