Why does Monterey already need a new police station? The one they have isn't very old. I don't think the force has grown that much in seven or eight years.

they need to spend your tax money on something.

im sure the roads dont need repaired, or any homeless going hungry though, so what better way to use your money?

Everything that wasn't tied down was taken. The honest ones left need a better place.

The money being used to buy a new police station comes from the drug fund not tax money. And last time I checked they have a tiny building next to the fire hall not an actual police department.

Yes and Baxter has two rooms in the city hall. Algood has one of the oldest buildings in town. The drug fund should be put back to fighting drug abuse and drug education for the children, not spent on a fancy building. I have been in the Monterey police station. It is much better than Baxter or Algood.

they tore the old garage down ,why dont they just put sides on the (suppose to be farmers market)in which they dont ever use except throwing away JOHN JERNIGANS corn. Thats along ways from 230,000 dollars!
The metal may cost around 5000 dollars if that much and get montereys lazy people off thier butt to put it on , the bathroom costed 57,000 dollars they put at the farmers market and never used!

This is not Algood or Baxter this is Monterey and the drug money comes from druggies and is brought in by Monterey officers so therefore if they want a better police station then they are entitled to it. They bring more and more money in from drugs everyday that money will be built back up in no time and it is used to get more druggies of the streets. People like to run their mouth when they have no clue to the truth!

Key word being want, instead of need. How about using that money on something we need such as, a new drug dog, a new suv to carry that drug dog, a good drug awareness program, specialized training for our officers the list goes on and on for things we need to make a better department.
And having an option is not running my mouth and nothing has been said about truth or lie. This is just a discussion. You are a very angry person. Maybe they could use a little of that money on anger management for you. That is if they're throwing money away anyway.

Um we have a drug dog and very good one at that and they are going to the schools and talking to the kids. They hand out books to them along with stickers. And no Im not angry just tired of everyone criticizing the police officers around here. Monterey officers have brought in more money from drugs this year than some departments do in years. So nope I'm not the one that needs anger management!

You keep trying to change my words. Not one time have I criticized the officers of the Monterey Police Dept. I however don't feel they need a new police department just because they want one. The one they have is not old and is serving the purpose just fine. If you want to help the officers, buy new patrol cars, issue them AR-15s,send them to specialized training, get them computers for their cars I could go on but there is now need. Just ask them. A new police Dept. isn't going to
benefit them. It is just something for the counsel to brag on and say look what we did.

The money to pay for this building in part is coming from the insurance money for the old fire department building. Where the rest is coming from has yet to be determined. We have a total of 900 square feet across four different locations serving as police stations. Follow the money boys and girls there's more to this story than meets the eye.
