PASADENA - The same ski-masked armed robber is likely behind at least three similar holdups at local businesses since Aug. 23, Pasadena Police Department officials said.

In each case, the gunman enters a business just before opening time, confronts the manager, employees and customers at gunpoint, then demands that an employee, most often the manager, open the store safe.

Police said the man is linked to similar robberies in Monrovia, Duarte and Eagle Rock. The most recent occurred Oct. 8 in Eagle Rock.

The man is African American, 26 to 40 years old, 6 feet to 6 feet 1 inch tall, with a medium build. He has worn a hooded sweat suit, ski mask and gloves in the robberies. He has brandished a large black semiautomatic handgun.

Anyone with information is asked to call the department's Detective Section.
