IT'S THE DRUGS STUPID!

We need to talk about it because the US is spending 10's of billions on the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency), ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and scores of gang supression units nationwide. The core underlying problem is the Columbian drug cartel supply, as well as the "demand", and the gangs who are the middle men.
We can blame the Columbia and gangs all we want, but "why" are US citizens some of the biggest "users", hence create the "demand". American drug users are obviously "self medicating", so a national health system that recognizes mental illness on equity with medical illness must be a component. Should we lessen jail time for non-violent drug users? Why should alcohol users be treated differently than marijuana users, cocaine users or ectasy? None of these are easy answers, some are "generational" based, some religious, but none are insurmontable.

This is rooted too deep in the culture of the USA and beyond. There is nothing anyone can do to stop any of this. If you stopped their ability to make money(drugs,prostition,extorti on) you might have a slim shot.
If you buy dope, chances are high your contributing the organization. If you go to a hooker you are probably doing the same thing. If you are running an illegal enterprise, you are more likly to be an extortion victim than most. Your chances of ever knowingly meeting a member of this organization are slim and becoming thier victim is not as random as you think. Remember they put alot of weight in RESPECT. Give it and get it. Those ex-gangbangers that are turning their lives around at Homeboy Industries? I respect most of them b/c they realized they needed to grow up and become a positive contribution to society. But those animals out there who expect people to bow down to them and treat them like kings just cuz they're packing will NEVER earn my respect.
