Yes only rich kids live in PG. We have section 8 housing and lowlifes just like every other City. We even have a homeless guy.

Spolied little rich kids whose kid-whipped parents comtributed to the behavior of their children by giving them everything they ever wanted and never saying no to them about anything. Their parents are in continual denial of the serious implications of their children's behavior and should be held accountable.
What the ignorant parents don't seem to be aware of is that some of these children can potentially, and quickly, become the cause of a real serious crime against another person today or in the future if they are never confronted with the truth of their behavior. Just read the news and you can see it sadly played out in other communties more and more often.

It is a sad statement that the parents don't take these fights, underage drinking and drug use seriously. Parents are still legally responsible for their minor children. Aren't they guilty of some type of misdemeanor or some other crime related to their kids' crimes? Unfortunately it may take a hit to their wallet or a death for them to do anything about their kids. By then, it's too late.

ok, i get what is going on is completely wrong! but to say its the new "fight Club" is rediculous. i have friends and so forth that attend MHC PGHS and CHS, they all confirm to me that it isnt a fight club... its a way to confront "sh*t talking... most of theses fights werent just set up to fight whoever. they have a "reason" for the fight. I also believe that the kids ashould be punished if the fights happend on school grounds or if they were taped. I believe that now that everyone has put in heads that this is a fight club... that it will become that. i mean what else do kids like to do... rebell.. So i wish you good luck on putting a stop to this.

This is ridiculous! I attend PG high and just watching this situation get out of hand is just dumb. It is so stupid how a couple little fights got blown out of proportion like this. The only reason the kids fought were two simple concepts 1. EGO 2. Girls.
Oh and about the drug deals? Ok I know having drug deals is bad, but its not like we are having kilo's of cocaine running into the town and through the school systems! Its good that we are catching this, but every school involved has drugs problems... maybe focus on that? hmmm? instead of some stupid fights?

But the one thing that pisses me off the most is how the ADULTS are handling this situation....

This story is a sham. There is no fight club. Laith Agha and the Herald editors were irresponsible for printing it and the PG High Principal was careless in using the term. 3 fights in 3 weeks. All unrelated. Please save your tears over youth violence on the Monterey Peninsula. If Agha's so hot for kids hurting each other "--or worse," as he puts it, please give him a real taste on the Salinas beat, where there is real pain.

cops and news need to get there stories strait before posting. i attend PG and the reason cops are getting involved and calling it a fight club is because of three unrelated fights. the police and administration believe there is gang affiliation on campus between so called "Zebras" and the "Donkeys". they have been convinced that these gangs are getting out of hand, but in reality, these are not gangs at all. it is simply a name made up by students to call friends and people they know. the fact that the adults are making wild accusations, with no support to back it up and then think it is okay to look through students phones without permission or consent, is unconstitutional and wrong.

Usually people get in fights because of rumors. the girls are super vicious
the reason why everyone is probably fighting is because there's nothing to do here really.

The alleged drug deals involved marijuana, Ecstacy and the prescription painkiller oxycontin.

One of the problems with fighting is that in the eyes of the police it is assault. It's only dumb "luck" that keeps a fight from becoming a criminal offense. As a health care provider I have both sutured kids up and seen the after effects of serious injury. People have died from single punches and lost their vision being hit in the face. I'm sure that none of the teens above think that this can happen to them. I wish that each of you could spend a Friday night in the Emergency Department of any hospital as we care for victims of violence. I'm not talking about stabbings and gun shots, but just your everyday mayhem. Unfortunately some of you will end up at county jail or juvenile hall, all this for "ego" or "girls". Good luck with that...

The Pacific Grove Police Department and PGHS staff couldn't be more far from the truth. I attend PGHS and am friends with all the kids that have been arrested suspended and mistreated in my opinion. The fights started around the end of summer as kids started to meet again right before school started. The home grown fights are just that fights between students that don't like each other not some fight club. The fights that have taken place between students from different schools are also because those kids don't like each other. People from both schools come to make sure that no one jumps in to help or just need something to do. I have been at both of the fights at Arnett Park, one of them was between two PGHS students, and the other between two sophmores one from PG one from Monterey who just plain didn't like each other. Monterey kids out numbered the PG kids at least 2:1 and began beating up on the PG fighter and really messed him up. Some PG students tried helping out only to be pulled away and beaten by the mass of Monterey kids. There is no "FIGHT CLUB" there are NO gangs in Pacific Grove. The PG police chief is far from right and should focus more on real crime rather then trying to reach his ticket quota for the month.......

Why didn't the article mention how they obtained the texts? Its because they took the phones from the students without a warrant. it was a total invasion of privacy. i am a student at PG, and when i talked to one of the staff, they even said that the school was overreacting. she said that "the school is going insane" was putting it mildly.

This is a waste of time
I'm from a city with real Fight Clubs. I've seen things that Police should really be focusing on. Not this! The police are worried about fight clubs. Wheres the War on drugs, the war on poverty. Police should be trying to help out those who need it, not just try to arrest some teenagers for screwing around.

THE SCHOOL has no right to take phones away and read the texts. I find it riddiculus that they can just invade the students privacy like that. The students should just start putting the most crazy and insane texts on there phone so when the school takes them it will really trip them out

Seriously, so we pretty much made it clear that the police are far from the truth. The police and the PG High's Staff's theory on the fights doesn't even make sense. They are taking this way too far, but to call it a fight club, like really? The police should be concerned with more important things rather than to just to make money for the California government. Also, saying that PG High students drink, then do drugs, then fight, do you know how ridiculous that sounds?
