About time! This place was a magnet for noise and the bad element common to parts of Salinas. Over the last few months this business has had music of some sort several days a week up to 2am without concern that it was located in a residential area. Prior businesses had music but would shut it down at a reasonable time or be once a week. After the shooting incident and complaints it was good to see law enforcement increase their patrol in the area.

This place had bouncers shooting the ceiling, shootings in the parking lot, near riots, alleged underage drinking, loud music, and bland food. Bye El Desquite! You will not be missed.

This business did not belong in this area. Back in the 60's it was a liqour store, called Cecil's liquors, it has been a donut shop, Karate studio, knick-knack stores, e.t.c. The area is a bedroom community to Salinas and is surrounded by ag land. The area has slowly deteriorated as the original home owners have died or moved and the homes fell into rentals. LaJoya elementary school is on the next block, and as it is this stretch of San Juan grade road has fallen victim to "Illegal alien drivers" who swarm the mini liquor store across the street and cash their checks at the super mercado next door. This was once a really beautiful area in the 60's and early 70's now, one can see a BigRig truck parked in a front yard within eye shot and Sheriffs deputies are to lazy to cite it! I am not anti-cop, it's just that zoning laws in Salinas and surrounding communities go uninforced and chaos and blight are the result. Thank you for nothing you lazy law enforcement fat butts

I guess if it were jazz music, sandwiches and caucasian clientele people would tolerate it... even if loud and crowded.

No Bill this is Mon co. Sheriff area.
Dale any music at 2am during the week is unacceptable in a residential area. I live walking distance to the former restaurant and could hear it all too clearly. Don't go to race. That's lazy thinking.

Adios. This place was a dump. I thought it was a cover for a money laundering operation. The food was overpriced and the same quality as any other of the bazillion taquerias in town and the beer cost more than a fancy club in San Francisco. Glad this place closed before somebody was killed there.

These "restaurants" , card rooms ect really want to cash in on the cabaret drinking and dance hall business. Most of these places have had incidents and don't get closed down.

Loud and crowded? Did you not read about the shootings? Race has nothing to do with this. Why do you assume the clientele was Hispanic? Are you profiling?
